Its not mercenary-esque, if it was his choice would simply be City.

He just wants to go to a club where he will play and win trohpies

posted on 24/5/12

No, he wants a club where he will get money, play and win trophies!!!

But I don't understand this Hazard thing, it's like he's on a reality show or something picking the team to play in. Why doesn't he just shut up and do it in private!

"Its not mercenary-esque, if it was his choice would simply be City."

This is no longer a valid argument. He has as much a chance of winning trophies at Man City as he does at Man Utd now.

Any of the Man Utd fans who have been saying that Hazard would join City for the money and Utd for the trophies are still living in 2008.

You missed out an important part though SuperGoon, would he play often at City?

Probably harder for him to get a game for City than it would be at United.

Depends where United would play him though. They already have plenty of wingers, and if Hazard wants to play as a second striker of sorts, then he'd be treading on Wayne Rooney's best position in my opinion.

I'm not sure where'd he'd fit in at City, or Chelsea for that matter.

He should just join Barcelona or Real Madrid now, instead of waiting for a couple of years at an English club.

just because 1 season they win the league doesnt mean they are a trophy winning side

not saying they are not but a side has to show they can win these trophies every season. if city win the league, fa cup or CL next year then there will be no argument but as far as im concerned 50-60% of players that go to city are still in it for the money.

United still a team more proven of winning trophies

Rooney had a great year as a number 9, he scored 34 goals there so to say Hazard would tread on his best position is stupid. Rooney is a great number 9 and 10, but being pushed forward won't be the end of the world for him. He'll get more chances to net the goals.

"just because 1 season they win the league doesnt mean they are a trophy winning side"

Well, they've won the FA Cup and Premier League in the last 2 years, which is more than Manchester United have won in the same time.

I'm not saying players don't go to City for the money, but you can't deny that, as potential for winning trophies, they will be in the mix for most of them for the foreseeable future.

posted on 24/5/12

He'd start for all 3 of these teams Renegade. Definitely good enough too.

posted on 24/5/12

not denying that and they certainly will. but the ultimate proof that they are a side for the future is by winning the league a 2nd time which imo is harder

posted on 24/5/12

I personally hope he goes to City. They're the best to watch out the 3 as it is add another top quality player in Hazard and they should be even better!

Silva plays the same position as Hazard doesn't he? Playmaker role, can you see Hazard put Silva on the bench?

"Rooney is a great number 9 and 10, but being pushed forward won't be the end of the world for him."

Rooney is a better number 10 than he is number 9, for me. He's an excellent creator, and to have him as just someone to put the ball in the back of the net would be a waste of his talent. You certainly don't NEED at £35m player to play in that position in his stead.

"but the ultimate proof that they are a side for the future is by winning the league a 2nd time which imo is harder"

We never did that City managed to sign the likes of Aguero and Silva just by qualifying for the Champions League. They can now go for pretty much any player they want.

They'll both play.

posted on 24/5/12

Hazard may be brought in to give Rooney a rest anyway, and Welbeck can play the number 9 role instead which he hasn't done badly with this season. We rely too much on Rooney, Hazard can be an excellent creative spark for our side too as well as Rooney.

wasnt rooney a number 9 player when ronaldo was at united. cause im sure he started scoring more when moved to a number 10

Welbeck is rubbish. Shola > Welbeck

If they'll both play, one would have to be on the wing. Hazard said he doesn't want to play on the wing, he excels in the number 10 role. So you'd play Silva on the wing instead?

posted on 24/5/12

Hazard plays on the wing for Lille as it is. Sure he gets license to roam all over but his starting position is lw.

posted on 24/5/12

The main force of United's attacking play has always been down the wings over the last decade or so. Giggs, Beckham, Ronaldo, Nani, Valencia etc; the centre of the pitch has usually been reserved for a grafter, and someone to spray the ball around out wide.

As creative sparks go, it'd be interesting to see how you'd fit Hazard into that, if he was to play centrally.

posted on 24/5/12

He played on the wing for the first half of the season, second half he was playing in the hole and that's where his assists started racking up more as well as goals. He said he prefers the number 10 role more, don't think he'll like playing on the left wing.

Agreed, but this season when our wingers have an off day and the fullbacks take them down, we lack creativity and goals so Hazard will be so much more useful and great backup for the creativity side if Valencia and Nani have an off day. SAF will be strengthening the central midfield at last I feel, as he knows now the wingers can't be relied on 100%

posted on 24/5/12

Why has no one mentioned numbers 7 or 11?

"but this season when our wingers have an off day and the fullbacks take them down, we lack creativity and goals so Hazard will be so much more useful and great backup for the creativity side if Valencia and Nani have an off day."

How do you mean "backup"? You can't really have a tactical set-up that is both about attacking down the wings and attacking centrally at the same time, but from the sounds of it, Hazard wants to be one of the main men wherever he goes, in a central position.

So that would mean either a complete change in United's philosophy, or having Hazard as a plan B, which he wouldn't join for.
