Is there a risk of Garty jumping ship? We all know he is a prem board member, could another club temp him away?

Some days I am excited at the prospect of a season in the Championship and other days I just get worring thoughts

Nobody apart from you is talking about that.

Those facts do show that in the past three years at least one team has come back, implying that nowadays it is more likely that we will.

That's positive, and a fact.

posted on 29/5/12

Bricks, isn't it also a fact that if a team can keep its core team together, it is more likely to come back up?

e.g. Newcastle, WHU, Birmingham

---

I don't know about WHU yet, but Birmingham had 25 million of cash from Carson Yeung to keep the squad and pay Prem wages and Mike Ashley allowed an 18 million loss for Toon as well during their C'ship season.

Bricks, WHU came straight back up, if we can keep our core team together, I am confident we can come back up at the first time of asking .....

What do you think, if we can keep our players, do you think we will come back up?

Whu have BSA and invested in players like Nolan

Bricks, Newcastles wage bill was a lot bigger, we have still been able to keep our best players ....

We can if we keep our best players but even then it wont be easy.

Wolves seem best placed financially to back their new manager then you have other teams managed by managers who have been relegated from the Prem like Chris Hughton(although he didnt relegate Toon) - Brum, Neil Warnock Leeds, Tony Mowbray Boro, Paul Jewell - Ipswich, Dave Jones - SheffW.
Add Nigel Pearson - Leicester up there as well.

Probably 3 from that lot because it's usually about managers. Can't see B'burn doing it as they have lost the plot goodstyle as a club.

Until the coyle situation changes Moses that is he improves or goes it is a more than reasonable suggestion that he will be the topic of conversation throughout the summer. Look at other threads whu fans debate BSA united fans do it about fergie two guys who there are limited if any year ions about there ability. The long ball debate with BSA has been done to death but is still brought up. It's natural for football fans to do. Sadly it annoys people on here as they are precious about him for some reason.

My comments were about bricks and this need to shoot down everything he says because he is unhappy that certain issues that bother him were not addressed to the detriment of the club he supports.

Someone once said boring people get bored easily. Your allowed to offer the benefit of the doubt over and over again and get shirty when told you can't.

I suggest the pot may need to stop calling the kettle black

I'd say having Holden back in our team would have a bigger impact, than West Ham adding Nolan to theirs. It's a cliche to say 'he'll be like a new signing' but the truth is there's a strong possibility that the team we have in the championship will be better than the one that came down. I find there's very little to be negative about as things stand.

Fab I agree in part but think Nolan has more than a good half season record in Premier League

There were at least 8 additions to whu squad moses

Just because, I disagree with what Bricks says does not mean that I am doing it for the sake of it, if you look at a lot of the comments on the board, they generally disagree with Bricks sentiment ...

I have no problem with a debate about Coyle on a thread that is about that, not about a good player signing a new contract. I'm sure they are not doing that on the WHU board ....

I have not got bored easily, you have posted the same comment on pretty much every single thread since the beginning of last season ....

------------------------------

Completely agree with you, Corporal. With the current crop of contracted players, fit, I think we're looking strong. Providing we keep hold of everyone of course.

Hoewever, defensively, we're not in great shape at FB, CB or GK and that's where Coyle needs to strengthen. A DM wouldn't go amis either - while Muamba certainly had his failings, I much preferred our midfield with him anchoring it.

Strengthening to do but it sounds like they're working on it.

Moses when things get better I will post otherwise but since last season it did not. My comments matched bwfc

Hopefully coyle plays some part in all bwfc footballing issues

I think the lee scenario will be influenced by his agent. Has anyone heard what his agent has said?

posted on 29/5/12

Good Petrov we're getting back on topic. Although no I haven't heard a peep, ever, I don't know a thing about him. All I do know is that lee himself has said he doesn't know about his future and isn't really thinking about it till after his hols, which is as vague as you can get. As for the off topic, topic the debate about it has been gone over again and again, why not just ignore the posts you don't like (this goes for both sides) so that the threads don't get bogged down in the same old debate?

Bricks, are those the stats just for automatic promotion or do they include play-off winners too? Obviously 11-12 does, but I mean all the other years too.

Lee being under contract when we all thought he had one year left is great news, and a positive whatever happens to him next. Proper fee or a very decent player, win-win.

From the comments of others, looks like I am missing some pointless and repetitive whining as a result of the filter function, hurray

Play-offs as well.

Didn't go all the way back because funny stuff going on with reducing the Prem from 42 teams to 38.

posted on 29/5/12

Cheers for looking into that. A question - are you not encouraged by that info in any way? If you look at the stats for the last 5-6 years, it would suggested the increased parachute money is giving the relegated clubs something of an edge, would it not/

posted on 29/5/12

I wish people would use the filter process properly

posted on 29/5/12

Of course it's better to have Lee on 4 instead of a one year tie up so we get more if he wants to leave.

The stats for the last 5 years are a lttie misleading as in 09/10, Brum were allowed by Carson Yeung to run at a 25mil loss to retain the players and pay Prem wages. Same with Mike Ashley Toon in 10/11, losing 18mil over that season. Don't know if WHU had a similar policy yet.

I really doubt our wherewithall to risk losses next season.

posted on 29/5/12

Its very difficult to create an article whereby comment will only be in relation to the op. Truth is that any issue in any football club has many different factors and each topic can always be related to the general running of the club or the manager.

Bricks argument about Yeung and Ashley allowing prem wages is a pretty reasonable one with a lot of credibility. I would suggest, however, that Bolton have managed to cut the wage bill and got rid of the 'deadwood', thus meaning that our current wage budget (after the cuts) is manageable and affordable at the moment.

Looking at the squad, I think it's strong. Very strong. We need 1 or 2 more players. A sub keeper and a centre half for sure, and then we have a full squad capable of beating lots of teams in this league.

Remember, with Lee, Holden and Wylde, we essentially have 3 new signins compared to last year.

As for Lee, well the news that he is contracted until 2015 can only be good news for us. We either get a decent wage on transfer money and stick Eagles on right wing, or we get to keep a fantastic player and stab a better chance of promotion.

If he decides he doesn't want to play for us, well tough ****. He has said he will play until 2015 and thus the club holds all the playing cards.

TRR in 2012 players hold the cards unless your city.
