Fulham will have to sell Dempsey to fund this one..
-------------------------------------------

I think they see your lad as his replacement as Arsenal and Tottenham are after Dempsey.

no wonder us(newcastle) don't go for english players anymore, £7million for jay rodriguez and you've told fulham where to go for bidding £5million for rhodes, absolutely crazy, we got cisse for £9million

Pay it, or fack off, as we don't need the cash.

every so often players from abroad come in and crack it..henry and others etc..
in between we fill the premier league with a right load of old foreign sh-te... reserve teams full of good young english players and first teams with some overpaid numpties who are "good athletes".....
newcastle got lucky with cisse(good luck to them) ...

Ever since someone paid a fortune for gareth barry its been a slippery slope into stupidity....liverpool compounded the whole farce with henderson and we now have the situation where the fees have lost all contact with any sense...

Our problem is 38 , if we sell Rhodes say for 7million, other clubs value of player's that we want will also go up, that's going to be deans problem now.

loui..
its a better "problem" than trying to get players you want with nothing in the bank..
plus we wont be "replacing" rhodes with a like for like, there is only van persie who comes close in the goalscoring charts and he might be just out of our price range..
We need to find someone who may well, given the chances and the right team behind him, get 20 plus in the championship along with a few others cracking double figures, its not just about jordan rhodes..

Thirty -eight - Purlease. My son is a newcastle supporter so I get to hear lots about them.

- So they got lucky with Cisse ! OK but they were quite "lucky" with Coloccini, Santon, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Gutierrez, Marvaux, Tiote, and one Demba Ba ! They scouted/watched these players for years in some cases.

Our young footballers, or rather their "agents" need to get real.

No I'm not saying we should import frogs by the bucket load, but Deano/Simon (Dimon?) could learn a lot from NUFC - financially, as well as long term scouting/go for promissing youth/ pay cash but negotiate hard and walk away if needs be/the occasional risk ie Demba Ba etc

I really think Newcastle have set the trend for the way forward and the sooner the greedy agents get the message (by a united front from all clubs) the better.

To get around the problem of having everybody know you have a spare £7 million sat in your bank account, doesn't it make sense to buy some players in prior to selling Rhodes...
This way we will get them at the market value, rather than a pumped up rate they will charge once we have cashed in on Rhodes.....

Schimplez...

That 5 million will buy you an entire Caravan Park.
Your fans will be extremely grateful.
Snap their hands off if I was you!

Rodriguez is a better all round player than Rhodes, if we manage to get as much, or more, for Rhodes for him then whoever's doing the negotiating deserves a medal!

I must admit I didnt know a huge amount about Stephen Quinn before the play off final but I must admit I think he is the type of player you could build a good footballing side around. He was the best think about their team and created from the middle and thats what we have lacked for some time. Him paired with a Damien Johnson type could be a could pairing. Having Higgs infront to do the running and a new pacy forward would mean we could step up to the Championship level and play the right way. He wouldnt be cheap but I think its a worthy investment as a good midfield can often make up for a lot of other faults (look at Gerrard or Lampard).

You said it MB. Spot on, with you all the way, but isn't Quinn already on the way elsewhere or staying, saw rumours on here I think. IF Quinn is as good as he seems, (any more info/stats other than the p/off ?) would just love it (!) as I agree he could be the heart of the team we need along with a pacey forward to replace Rhodes if we cash in.
