Not really been successful for the club. Start of season goal was surely to get cl and win a trophy
We got embarrassed in the fa cup semi and we threw away third.
Top 4 all day long was the aim. We finished 4th .
No. Cl football was the aim. Top 4 was the lazy assumed target required to get cl football. And it hasn't worked out
"Top 4 all day long was the aim. We finished 4th ."
Clutching at straws
Your aim was Champions League. You failed
We saved you the embarrassement you would have had to endure in the qualifiers.
Obers wumming is so predictable it's boring.
Anyway he is right in principal as I said cl was aim
Is 4th place straight entry into the group stage of the Europa League or is there a qualifier?
On the plus side it's surely made us a more attractive side to players who actually enjoy playing the game? Would Vertonghen be interested if we hadn't played so well.
Just glad we're not picking up the mercenaries who will take the biggest pay check even if it means sacrificing glory. Oh and those who disrespect all clubs in a transfer negotiation by publically pimping themselves out. Take a player who wants to play for us than for our money.
I don't mind the players trying to be positive - it's only Harry's bull I am sick of.

You are talking as if he is some kind of superstar and has the pick of any club in Europe like that Eden hazard

Well faced with the two options of Arsenal and Spurs he set his preferred destination as us, even with his best mate playing for Arsenal.
We should've had 3rd in the bag but we met our target which was 4th place. Its not our fault for the first time it wasnt enough.

It is our fault though for playing like s for the last three months. Playing well for the first half of the season doesn't suddenly give you the license to play like a bunch of ar5eholes for the rest of it
It's not like a call centre job where you have to make 100 calls so if you do the first 50 quickly you can take your time over the rest
The bottom line is that in the business end of the season we failed to beat Norwich Stoke Aston villa Sunderland and qpr amongst others.

Sucess for him, failure and disappointment for the club.
Our poor start isn't a valid arguement in any of this once we nearer man united and man city than the teams chasing 4th place come late January/early feb means that 4th and no champions league makes it a flop.
Tayto - I am sick of reading this fallacy trotted out, so I'm going to shout (capitalise) a bit - sorry - not necessarily for your benefit!!
BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON, our target was 4th place ASSUMING - as we all did - fans and pundits alike - that Arsenal and Liverpool would be back, and Chelsea were at the start of a bright new era. None of that happened. And so the target quickly rose, particularly given where we were.
We should have had a nailed-on third place, and we missed it. We missed our target.

Who blew 3rd place? We did. Our fault we aren't in it. We knew the rules. End of story
The exact mentality of oh we came 4th we achieved our goal is exactly why we will never be true contenders. We don't have a winning mindset at the club. Harry blabbing on about 4th a great achievement. What when we were ten points clear in third three months ago? Lack of any kind of killer instinct and always looking to blame others for our situation and taking the easy way out is the biggest obstacle for the club. And it's embedded into club and the staff and fans. And it's no good.
It was a poor season and our players need a dose of reality if they think it can be deemed successful.
Do you see any Arsenal players coming out saying they had a successful season? Cause I don't, and they achieved third and CL football.
It's this kind of mentality that we need to let go of.
Look we are in a group of 3/4 clubs going for 3rd and 4th place in the league at best. Yeah we shouldve got 3rd but to think a change of attitude is gonna get us anywhere above 3rd place is just crazy. So we came 2nd out of our little group. Its not abject failure but i do agree we should've had 3rd nailed on.
It's not abject failure but I get disheartened when I hear our fans just settling for second best when we could have had best.
We all know that great bill Nicholson quote. But unfortunately the club no longer seems to follow it. We constantly take the easy way out and blame anyone and anything but ourselves
At least if they came out and said "Oh we should have done better, I'm really gutted blah blah blah" we'd know they have ambitions to improve rather than if they say we had a successful season like they're somehow content with 4th place and no CL. They may very well not be content underneath, but it's not what we want to hear, them making excuses.
this quote ‘It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.’ is exactly what we did though
We failed aiming high. If you consider 4th in the league aiming low then we succeeded at that but its not low at all It equalled the best we've EVER done in the premiership.
Its just a bit of perspective, yeah we couldve done better but so could 19 teams in the league though
