How the hell did you get that from that, its clear Carrick told them he didn't want to play for his country the disgraceful little

disappointed with carrick, hope he changes his mind but really don't see it happening, I suppose he is having the last laugh.

He should have at least tried. Henderson and Downing are joke choices. I hope they prove me wrong but they just wont. They've both been uttter pants this season for which there hasnt been an excuse given the amount of game time they've both had.

hard to blame roy i think

That is your problem, you don't think.

The contacts with Michael were conducted before I took the job.

Thus, if you use your tiny little brain, you will deduce Roy did not speak to Carrick.

This one isn't even hard either.

And a liverpool player would never retire because he wasn't first choice eh

Didn't Carrick say he would come back if England were in dire need? I think we are at that stage now!

But if Parker pulls up injured, we can't change him anyway.... You can only swap out players who have fresh injuries.

Yep it's all Roy's fault. Let's not blame Carrick at all for turning his back on his country.

Well, Carrick made it clear he didn't want to be part of Cappello's team. You would think a new manager wanting to make an impression on his country would call anyone he felt would benefit the team. That's a managers job

You really are a stupid little boy.

Carrick gets a rest and comes back fresh for next season, doesn't play any part in the coming debacle and lets someone else be the flak magnet instead of it being inevitably him.

What's not to like?

It was made clear to me he was not a player who wanted to be considered so he wasn't a player I considered.

I wonder who told him this, Henderson maybe?

Fair point - although it will be made out to be Carrick's fault for not being there!!!

More than likely the duo of Henderson and Gerrard!

If England were blessed with an abundance of talent in central midfield...fair enough...but anyone who had watched Carrick over the past couple of years would definitely say he is worth a place...so Hodgson, a new man, no baggage regarding Carrick dosn't even bother to speak to him prior to selection?? He has been overlooked for years so you might not agree with Carrick's decision to retire from England but you can understand it...i think it is a farce that you have got jordan henderson in the england squad and you havent even sounded out Carrick??? Just my opinion

I think it is the opinion of any rational follower of football.

When you read the comments from the Spanish midfield players on Carrick, it really beggars belief that Carrick gets overlooked for England and the likes of Parker and Barry don't.

so, Roy didn't even attempt to speak to Carrick - bet he is regretting that now!!

That's not really narrowed it down much - Pretty much every professional footballer had a better season than them.

The best English CM over the course of the season.

And Roy doesn't even think to pick up the phone and see how the land lies? Bizarre.

Please explain what part of what I said isn't true?

A fair take on this shouldn't overlook Carrick's apparent statement to the FA when apportioning blame.

However, it's surprising to say the least that if Hodgson rated him and would have liked him in the squad he didn't even bother clarifying the situation with the player. All it needs is a three-minute conversation.

I kind of wonder whether Hodgson is now covering himself against the backlash. Before he lost two midfielders the line was that he didn't feel Carrick was better than the players he'd selected and therefore there was no point considering him on the back-up list given his stance.

In the current situation there is more heat on him for failing to bring a better midfield to the competition and he is putting more weight on Carrick's stance, and less on his previous evaluation of Carrick as not good enough for the starting XI.

I never said anything you said wasn't true.

It is just that you are pig ignorant to everything else.

Hope this helps in you ongoing education into how to be a better human being.
