HE WAS ALWAYS FIRST CHOICE

he was not offered the job so talks are irrelevant. you dont hire someone without finding out what they are about...do you? is that how it works?

posted on 2/6/12

Martinez was clearly first choice. He made the right decision by not accepting though.

Martinez wasn't offered the job!

Why do people refuse to believe what the club themselves say but the media who print their stories based on guesswork is now complete gospel

posted on 2/6/12

The club is hardly going to publish truthful information that may hinder or undermine the manager.

Martinez wasn't offered the job

I reckon he was first choice, but Dave Whelan, with his big mouth, fooked it all up for him. I can't see Martinez being offered a bigger job than Liverpool (unless he goes abroad).

Ian Ayre today..........."we interviewed several managers for the job who`s names will remain private"
Just to get the practice in for the first choice you understand.

Could be that they were sizing up potential candidates for the job in twelves months time. After Liverpool FC's annual sacking of the manager

you lot really dont have a clue how a selection process works do you?
if the club had made an offer to anyone other than rodgers, do you not think it would be very easy for him to find out that the club were lying? All he has to do is have a chat with martinez and he has the answer.
As for dave whelan cocking it up for martiez...please! Whelan didnt have a clue what was going on and the amount of carp that came out his mouth was hilarious. strange how he seemed so eager to get martinez out of the door. bullet dodged!

The job was offered to Rodgers and Rodgers only?
Dont be silly, the fact that Gerrard pointed this out while giving a interview for England says it all. Its obvious he's been briefed by the RS hierarchy to get this in while most of the English fans are watching!

Pretty sad really

Evertonians - clutching at straws just to get one up on the club that is making them live in a shadow...

posted on 2/6/12

What is sad is you lot running with conspiracy theories such as gerrard had obviously been briefed to say that.
as i have said, if brendan rodgers had been sold on the fact he was the only one offered the job, surely it would have been VERY easy for him to simply ask martinez if he had been offered it.
your deluded fantasies spawned from made up newspaper stories just make you lot look so petty.

Face it. we interviewed a few people and gave it to the guy we asked about first as he was a number one target and once interviewed, the most impressive. Its how a selection process works you inbreds

You wonder why newspapers are able to be so lazy and sell such rubbish to so many people until you see the idiots like this lot that gobble it up

The FA media team don't allow players to be asked about the stories or transfer interest outside of international football.

Anyone familiar with the machinations of such international football press conferences will insist it’s rare for questions to be allowed on players’ clubs or their playing future. It’s not considered fair game.

I can see that their are a few delusional RS fans on here! and probably born and bred in Southend!

posted on 2/6/12

Naivety or total delusion? Take you pick, but either way it's tragic that a section of RS fail to accept what is patently obvious, whatever the subject matter.

The cult of LFC, you're all stark raving mad I tell ya!

I wonder how warm the chairs seat was when Brendan sat for his interview

posted on 2/6/12

TB, what exactly is patently obvious because if i remember correctly, you had no clue either.
didnt you say that there was "no way you will get rodgers" a few days ago, which was based on the "patently obvious" media information that pointed to martinez and martinez alone

leiva - I said Rodgers wouldn't get it, as it was obvious that Martiniez was the first choice, given the meeting in the US etc, & imo he was offered the job (as Whelan "thought" as well - which given he was speaking directly to the man, was first hand information, was it not?)

What I didn't factor in, was the possibility of Martinez saying 'not for me' & thus the move for Rodgers happened.

Deny it, all you wish, I'm not rsed if you choose to delude yourself, carry on. But if you can honestly say that the likes of De Boer, Klopp, Martinez etc were all behind Rodgers in the running from the start, then you're a fully fledged lunatic.

They've had to say he was first pick, otherwise both him & them lose face. The end.

Martinez was interviewed for the job, but they have categorically denied that any other manager was offered it. How clear do you need it??
You actually laughed at reds for being deluded when suggesting rodgers as manager, but based on nothing more than media hearsay
you say that de boer, klopp etc were all behind rodgers but again, you have used your good old friends the media to "confirm" that these were all approached by the club and offered the job. the lunatic here is you!
As ive pointed out to you on another post, you aimed a mirror article as "evidence" of the "shambles" going on yet the very same paper claimed we had definitely made an official approach for rafa. We had not!
Is it difficult to understand the difference between stories made up by the media to sell papers and facts.
The easiest way of corroborating the liverpool line would be for a manager to come out and say they were offered the job. given the close knit nature of the football community, i find it highly unlikely that this would not have come out or at least got back to rodgers.

You are missing the point. We are saying many managers were approached regarding being sounded out about having an interview with LFC regarding the managers post. Some managers have gone on record as saying they were approached about being offered a chance of an interviewed and declined the chance.

We know both Martinez and Rodgers were interviewed and we know Rodgers was offered the job as he's now your manager.

You are spouting off about managers being offered the job without an interview. We are saying multiple managers were offered the chance to attend an interview and all but rodgers and martinez declined.

posted on 2/6/12

YOU are not getting the point.

Martinez accepted the invitation as we all know, but was not offered the job. He did not decline ANY offer.
rodgers declined the initial offer of an interview, but he was the first offered an ultimately the only one offered the job.
any other manager that "declined" was simply asked if they would like the opportunity to manage liverpool and publically, they declined the opportunity as they were under contract. what else do they say to the press?
The FACTS are that we know nothing of who else was interviewed and the club have quite rightly said that this will remain private.
The press made wild assumptions and you lot have jumped on this as fact. Sad acts

Are you not unhappy that a so called 'massive' club has chosen Brendan Rodgers as it's first choice manager. That to me show's a lack of ambition on behalf of your owners and the likelihood that you aint going to betrying to buy your way into the top four never mind trying to win the league
