Ronald de Boer was offered the job.

"I am flattered to be considered, but my project is at Ajax"

Why would you offer people a job that was not there?

Why does it always have to be a "named" manager that is the best candidate?
Like it or not, got swansea playing football that no promoted team had dared play before.
He improved some average journeymen into being top performing premier league players.
They had the 6th highest passing accuracy in EUROPE last year.
The criteria set out was always for a young manager with a clear vision (this is why the capello stories were laughable). Of all the younger managers, i fail to see many better than rodgers....unless you are obsessed with star names like most of the more simple supporters are.

Marauder - i thought you were filtering me????

CE - responding to the media questions. What else can he say? should he say yes, i want the job and then explain his thoughts to ajax board and fans?
you lot really are simple

lucas,

my point was he was offered the job,not how he responded.

If you had one preffered manager why did they not offer him the job, privately, and not go through the process of a shortlist.

posted on 2/6/12

but you are claiming he was offered the job based on his response to a media question.
At no point did liverpool or ajax say that they had approached de boer, which is exactly the same with klopp and any other manager linked. it is all media speculation.
they wanted to speak to a number of individuals which they did. they offered rodgers the job and nobody else. how is this too difficult to understand?
as i have said repeatedly, what benefit would they get from telling everyone that no other offers were made, only for this to leak back to rodgers and undermine his position?
the press didnt have a clue who was getting it...and it showed! unfortunately they fuelled the idiotic ramblings of you bitters

When Swansea played at Goodison they did pass a lot all in there own half. They were decidedly average and I cannot see your supporters putting up with possession football all in midfield and defence with no end product.

I predict that Rodgers will be found out at Liverpool. End off

When you lot played us at wembley you folded like a soggy stack of playing cards. Cant see your fans standing for that......oh wait!

Its like a having a conversation with the speaking clock.
which part of "official approach" do you not understand?
These "approaches" in the media were never confirmed by either club or indeed by the managers themselves. They answered questions from the media so even if interested, they would have no option but to say no as they had contracts with their current clubs.
What do you expect moyes media response to be if someone asks him if he wants the man u job?

This guy should change is name to Ajax (the toilet cleaner), because he's clearly going round the fooking bend.

lucas,

so J Dubya travelled over 1,000 miles to not offer the job to Martinez?

Grow up lad.

Concerned evertonian should change his name to concerned liverpudlian

posted on 2/6/12

im sure that 1000 miles in his private jet, air-conditioned jet was such a chore for him.
Given he is in america, what else is he supposed to do in order to talk to a candidate? means fook all about being offered the job though.

Stocky, apart from your fantastic contribution, it is no coincidence that the total population of the everton ja606 fanbase has sprouted near 100% growth over the last few weeks as the regular numpties have looked more and more desperate.
which one are you by the way?

lol, yet more RAWK'esque knackers from a fully fledged disciple of the cult.

"I am honoured by the request, but I am only just getting started with Ajax,"

Frank de Boer, talking about Liverpool on the 21st May.

But of course they only wanted to speak to him in order to confirm that Brendan was their first choice

posted on 3/6/12

Best to get all the ones they didn`t want out of the way before approaching their first choice

posted on 3/6/12

Brendan quoted today............."I know they spoke to managers in Europe,in the end they went for a Northern Irishman"

posted on 3/6/12

He wouldn't be first choice for us so a move to you guys may be more attractive. But his agent said he wants to be Lampard's successor and play in the CL.

stop licking the windows FFS.
The club have always said they wanted to speak to more than one person as they had a criteria they wanted to fit.
Rodgers was the first person they asked to speak to but, rodgers only wanted to talk if there was an offer on the table hence his decision to decline talks at the outset.
There were conversations with managers, but only one offer and that was to rodgers.

the club and rodgers could not have made it any clearer that he was first choice, but i suppose the daily fail are a better source of "truth" hey!

The lengths you lot will go to get cheap digs in at liverpool is astonishing.

You lot are as believable as TB's "your not going to get rodgers as manager" line. classic know nothing statements

I am sure J Dubya makes an awful lot of money wasting his time talking to people he has no intention of doing business with

I am sure he has made an awful lot of money by making sure he makes the correct decisions...something panto bill could do well to learn from.
Snatching the first kit deal that comes your way is a someone close to your heart concerned!! Maybe he should have "wasted" a bit more time before signing on the dotted line

posted on 3/6/12

Any chance you could set bill up with a meeting?

bill could learn a lesson off Lenny Henry, never mind J Dubya
