erm...

OK yes he was

That was the most attractive side to watch though. Hasn't been matched before or since. Ljundberg, Pires, Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp. Class on grass

those players couldnt get them the CL tho, and thats because despite going unbeaten in the league they drew too many games to stand a chance in a knock out competition.

for me rooney, scholes, hargreaves, ronaldo and tevez had more to them hence the fact they conquered europe.

i honestly think if the arsenal team of then came up against that united side, the chelsea side mentioned or this seasons city, they'd lose.

Every English side who's won the CL has done so with a horrid scraping noise.

Even Arsenal when they reached the final. I'm surprised Wenger hasn't tried that again. That year was a lot of 1-0s and lone striker setups.

I don't think it is so much Wenger is tactically inept. I just think he will risk losing to win more than Mourinho.

You name me a single expensive flop by Wenger.
----------

arshavin for starters
======
Compared to Arsenal standards, I suppose he was. (even though he did help get us CL football that year) But compared to Man Utd and even other teams in PL he wasn't.

Remember Wenger hasn't spent over £15 million yet.
SAF has spent more money on flops than Wenger!

So Reyes and Arshavin didnt cost over 15mil??

If true, then well. What an amazingly well run club and manager.

Unfortuntely its trophies that count, but well done nevertheless

not really mate, the only big money signing from fergie that can really be considered a flop was Veron, and even then we got 18 million or whatever back from chelsea.

but thats also arsenals problem and why they havent won anything for 7 years and have never won the CL.

Wenger isnt prepard to make the big signings to take you the next step forward, sometimes you have to take that gamble.

Anderson has been an 18million flop.

No, not if you mean initial lump sums. If the total cost of add-ons were included then the sum would have been higher.

Besides, stop getting into a sissy fit over it. We all know trophies are what matters. No one is saying otherwise.

Berbatov has not justified a 30million price tag either

The Invincibles for me. They had so much skill and grit about them. At times their football was incredible to watch from what I've seen. I don't think Chelsea's defence could handle Henry and Bergkamp. Too much class.

me? sissy fit? I was just asking a simple question and making a simple point.

I honestly don't care about what your club needs to be doing so much to get a sissy fit

Anderson has had some bad injuries in his time at united, persoanlly i think if he can stay injury free ( a big if) he will be a very good player.

As for berbatov he was joint premier league scorer in the season before last and won the PL twice, i'd say it was justified.
