This is a ridiculous article.
Everyone knew Gerrard and Lampard were quality from the off
Henderson is dog shiite
I disagree with the point of stevie..although he was played out of position his long range passing did make people sit up and notice him. though i do accept your point...
No one knew Gerrard and Lamparfd were quality from the off at all.
The same for Ronaldo when he joined United or Drogba joining Chelsea, both struggled to live upto the hype!
Liverpool fans didn't see enough ability in Stevie to become another Fowler or even Redknapp.
------------------------------------------
disagree with that, sorry.
it was obvious to most people in the game, that alone fans, that Gerrard had talent from a very young age.
not sure about Lampard or care but probably the same, although i think we have the better player obviously.
haven't seen enough of Henderson in the middle to make judgement, when i do then i will give my opinion on whether he is good enough or not to make it, but at the moment its potential that's it,
seen enough players down the years that have had potential but never live up to what they could have achieved, time will tell, but i haven't written him off.

You are mentioning Henderson being in the same regard asGerrard.Lampard,Ronaldo and Drogba!!!!
What time do the pubs open around your way
great article..Henderson will become one of the best midfielders in Europe, watch this space...only a blind man cant see it
though i think Lucas leiva would be a closer comparasion to henderson as i think he will come good...
Leiva was slammed as it was easier to do that than ti understand that he was a young man learning the game. This season Leiva has easily been our biggest loss...

i wonder how would Jordan Henderson be perceived if he wasn't playing for Liverpool?
He's a 21 year old who has just made the step up to playing for a bigger club and made the squad for the euro's.
The Henderson abuse started before a ball was even kicked this season. it's a pathetic way to treat a young player finding his feet at a new club, but the new club was Liverpool so he became an easy target.
Here is what some Manchester United fans thought of Henderson before he was linked to LFC

I'm sorry but everyone knew Gerrard was going to be class.
He made his England debut at 19!
Henderson will become one of the best midfielders in Europe,

Its up there with one of the worst comments ive read on ja606.
Based on nothing but the fact he plays for Liverpool. Also don't forget Kelly is better than Rio
gawasoldier1984 (U2134)
I think it's based on things like he had the third highest amount of key passes in the league the season before last, Captains the U21's, has a great engine and temprament and was being chased by many top clubs.
He made his England debut at 19!
Good point.
But would Henderson be at the Euro's if he was playing for another club ?
What exactly have people seen in Henderson that suggests he maybe good, let alone "one of the best in Europe" ?
From what i have seen, he doesn't tackle, he doesn't go past people and he doesn't make a difference, being honest, half of the time i don't even realise he's on the pitch. Shelvey IMO is a much better player than Henderson, a year younger and £18m cheaper.

I think so consdiering the injuries. He aptain the U21's and who else would you atke in central midfield. Barton? Nolan? Noble? Britten?
We don;t actually have any central midfielders who have been in the England set up whilst playing top filght football.
So yes he would have gone.

And Gerrard and Parker are not capable of playing 3 games so close to one another. I'd start Henderson myself

absolute rubbish mate. as many people above have stated everyone could see gerrard would be very good if not world class, even at a young age. and i can assure you, no sensible chelsea fan was disappointed with 11m (not 10m) for lampard -where again you display your complete ineptitude by saying this would be equivalent to over 20m today. it was still a relativley cheap deal for a young player with great potential - and was the same summer that veron went to man u for £28m which was not seen as excessive.
i'm not saying henderson wont improve (how can he not) but you cannot compare his situation to gerrard or lampard.
I think it's based on things like he had the third highest amount of key passes in the league the season before last, Captains the U21's, has a great engine and temprament and was being chased by many top clubs.

Third highest - behind the likes of Chris Brunt? Two season ago?
Nigel Reo-Coker captained the U21's.........
Move over Xavi and Iniesta your time is up
At the moment he doesn't look good enough for Liverpool and definitely not for England. He has potential, I'll give him that, but anyone who saw him for the U21's would not have been impressed (in fact the whole U21 midfield was rubbish) and to step up to the full international squad is surely a step too far.
Liverpool fans often accuse Man Utd fans of being blinkered over Michael Carrick, yet at the same time defend the inclusion of Henderson, who has been - at best - anonymous this season.
hird highest - behind the likes of Chris Brunt? Two season ago?

Behind Fabregas actually. Not sure who the other was.
I'm not really sure what your point is.

I dont think Henderson should be in england squad right now BUT lets not forget Carrick turned down inclusion to reserve squad otherwise he would have been there.
For liverpool fans i think we see this as a bonus for him and good experience.
im pretty sure this stat was thrown out the other day and Brunt was ahead of him. will find out
My point is none of your points indicate he will be a top midfielder in Europe. He is nothing more than potential at the moment.
