Milner he's been drivel in the two games so far. Give Theo a go.

Even if it wasn't a difficult tie, and I agree that it is, we should be trying to get a hatful of goals anyway to get 1st place and avoid spain for as long as possible.

Milner is poor. I would prefer to see Downing start.

Roy is cautious I can't see him dropping Milner. He'll be making sure we don't lose... it's dangerous needing only a draw though.

I would change the team to freshen things up and give a few players a rest.

My team would be:

Hart
Johnson
Jagilka
Lescott
Cole

Walcott
Gerrard
Henderson
Young

Rooney
Welbeck

Possibly play the OX instead of Young, but I think we need to play Young in this game to try and get him some good form and confidence as he has played poor so far. He could be an important player in the knockout stage.

Last night the wingers (until Theo came on) were both woeful and were both woeful vs France (Milner and Young btw), so i suppose they can't be any worse against Ukraine.

carroll over welbeck? the same welbeck that has been our best player? ok.

If Parker (or Gerrard) doesn't start for any reason i would expect Milner to play CM, tbh.

In this thread, 3 non-Liverpool fans have suggested that Carroll, Downing and Henderson should start.

What the hell is going on?!

I feel like I don't even know you people any more...

We are very limited in options due to our poor squad depth. Milner is clearly only playing due to how poor Johnson is, so with Voronin attacking Johnson i think it is possible to drop Milner for a more attacking option. Id probably go for the Ox we should really dominate the game and the added possession would suit Ox more than Walcott.

Hart Johnson (even though he is very poor) Terry Lescott Cole Parker Gerrard Young and Rooney are basically undropable.

Glen Johnson has been one of our better players, imo.

Welbeck and Glen Johnson have been our best players.

Might as well start with Milner if Rooney plays, as the weirdly coiffured one never passes to Walcott anyway.

I wish i could respect your opinion but Johnson is abysmal, if he is one of our better players how come he needs Milner in front of him unless you think Milner is a better option than the ones on the bench. His positioning is absolutely pathetic. The first goal yesterday could have been avoided if he didn't knock it in and fail to clear, but even worse was the second it was completely his fault. It's not even them specific moments why i don't rate him he is just overall a liability.

^ even some non-liverpool fans seem to disagree

Also notice that both teams we have faced so far have just hounded Johnsons side. Clearly they have took note that Johnson is a massive weak link in our defence and they constantly try to exploit it. So far no goals have come specifically down to his poor defending in play (partially the Nasri goal) but the teams have had a lot of joy on his wing. He is very slow he doesn't track back like i've said his positioning is disgusting.

Johnson is very slow? hahahaha

So glad Rooneys back. We've been lucky in his absence in terms of results as we haven't exactly played well. But with him back in the side we will finally have that quality we are soo lacking. \Let's hope he shows up.

People go on about Theo flopping for England but imo Rooney is a bigger flop. As i mentioned above he's bloody quality and our best player (hence i'm pleased he's available) but at international level he does seem to do little all. That said he's consistently brill for united season in season out. So here's hoping he can replicate his club form now

Out of my entire rant you can only point out 'very slow' I guess i'm correct then.

posted on 16/6/12

I don't know why i just agreed with you on that, he is still slow. He just jogs back when we are being caught on the counter. When he is one on one with a winger they always seem to just saunter past him.

posted on 16/6/12

No, that was just the most stupid thing i've ever read

Can anyone remember Rooney's last great game for England?

It's got to be a few years ago now...

2004 he was good

How has Johnson been our best player?

His positional sense has been terrible, and he's been poor going forward. An absoloute embarrassement.

I'd start Carroll over Welbeck, because Carroll gives a better all round performance. Play Walcott on the wing to cover for the loss of Welbeck's pace.

People saying to drop Young? He's been one of our best players for ages now, and he should stay in the side. He'll work well with Rooney.

As the tournament goes on, Lescott and Terry will become more vulnerable. Terry is the better defender, and needs someone with pace alongside him, and who is willing going forward with the ball, and take the game to the opposition.
