Trap?

Everton's Duffy is the obvious one for the future. St Ledger is till young, John O'Shea should be moved to centre half for the next campaighn as he clearly isnt a full back anymore and plays there for Sunderland. There was talk of Luke Chambers of Forest and Richard Steerman of Wolves declaring for us. Paul McCarthy at Palace?

So six people voted "Yes, he should go" and one person voted "No, he should stay".

I can't rate my own article, but I'd have voted "Yes, he should go" which means that roughly 88% of the people who voted believe he should go. I know it's just a football forum and our forum does not have many people on it, but that's quite a strong answer, so far.

Clark is another option too, he can play centre half, but Villa seemed to be using him as a DM last season, although that was under clueless McLeish, so hopefully next season he'll be played in his proper position, cos lrd knows we need him!

Everyone thinks we should congratulate him because he got us to our first major tournament in 10 years. Maybe that’s a reflection as to how poor Staunton and Kerr were! If he had of given players like Coleman, McCarthy, Hoolihan, etc a chance….who’s to say we wouldn’t have qualified for Euro 2012 anyway playing a much better quality football?

Who's to say under a different manager at WC 2002 we couldn't have got to the world cup final??

Before the tournament, Trap was the man to take us forward in my opinion. I'm sure someone on here, asked who should be his successor. To which I stated that I believed Tardelli, should be the man to succeed Trapattoni. But I am now of the opinion that both men will persist with the senior players, and I am completely unsure of who would replace Trap.

What gets me riled up is when he says that the squad now is not as ‘talented’ as previous squads especially in 2002!!

Oh yeah Trap…I forgot what world class players Mark Kinsella, Matt Holland, David Connolly (to name just three!) were………!!

Nowhere near the quality of McCarthy, McClean, Gibson, Hoolihan…..

And we played Spain off the park in 02....(Spain are better now but come they looked like they were playing against an u12 team). Feel so let down by some of the players and manager just glad I didnt head over....

In 2002 we were a much better team simply because Given, Keane and Duff were 10 years younger (all world class champions league standard players back then) now all 3 are well past it but the likes of Hoolahan, McCarthy, Gibson and McClean do not come close to replacing them....

They are solid premier league professionals but nothing exceptional there, hence why none of them play at Champions Lge or Europa League standard... unlike the whole Croatian team.

The sad thing is John Delaney wont do a thing about it. He is quoted in the Star today as saying 'Trap is staying and his job is to get us to the world cup, simple as' and he was supposedly out of his head, buying all the fans free drinks and singing f__k Roy Keane etc all whilst Monaghan utd go out of business. Sad day for the league yet the main man is in Poland getting leathered. The FAI are pathetic.
