Guys, look at the climate of Scottish football for the past two decades. It's all about wishful fantasies (Ronaldo and private jets anyone?) and clubs spending outwith their means.
Rangers, like it or not are/were the archetype for this approach. There is just no escaping that. Ask any football analyst, they will tell you the same.
Provincial clubs were in a situation of either standing still or trying to catch up.
They were criticised for not doing enough to catch up at times, by sycophantic lickspittles in the press who liked to talk about private jets and world class strikers.
But I am not surprised at your inability/reluctance to acknowledge this. If your ears weren't so full of sand you might have woken up to the man a long time ago.

If I asked any football analyst who the archetype club for this approach was...they will say Rangers!
No football analyst will solely blame Rangers for eveything that followed.....unlike you!
Will you be telling me the big four in England, Brca or Real Madrid are to blame for Portsmouth going belly up next ?? Seeing as they are now the archetype clubs for giving players fortunes in wages and stuff like that??
Away hame!!
Tim - your straw clutching there. Murray and rangers can be blamed for a lot of things but not this. If other spl clubs overspent, that's NOTHING to do with us
I will say it again, for one last time.
Rangers, under Murray, were the archetype for big spending in Scotland.
Any argument? If so, have a wee think about what came before Murray.
Murray must be assessed within the context of his approach to business. Think about it, and think about how this applied to football. Then think about the nick of his business empire these days.
Now, the media, who we all know were in Murray's palm (it's not even a joke anymore) created pressure within the game to 'keep up or die'.
Other chairmen tried to keep up. Clubs were mocked by the press for not having ambition. Again, Ravanelli and Dundee.
Rangers were lauded, praised from the rooftops, for modernising the sport. Other clubs followed the archetype they created. Including Celtic.
Celtic were the only club capable of sustaining themselves when the bubble burst. Even Rangers have been running at a £10 mill overflow in recent years p.a.
One man. Murray.

Citing Jim Traynor as your proof thay Murray is the root cause of every bad financial decision made in Scottish Football over the last 20 years or so just goes to show how absolutely ludicrous the point you are making is!!
"Rangers, under Murray, were the archetype for big spending in Scotland."...again, no one is arguing that point.
Whoever choose to follow did so off their own back.
The media might have been in minty's pocket, might have been puting pressure on clubs to do this and that, might;ve been making Rangers out to be the shining light and whatever else.
Clubs that followed Rangers and tried to keep up did so off their own back, how much they spent, they decided.
At the end of the day, there was only so far ANY other club could keep up in Scotland without getting into financial difficulty....the smart ones stopped doing so when it came to overstepping the mark, other went gung ho in a quest for better things.
Those that went gung ho....DID SO THEMSELVES, you could say they caved in to pressure, they fell for Murray's moonbeams, they let the media decide their own clubs spending strategy.
The poeple that did this have to take the responsibility for their own actions.....Rangers supporters accept tht David Murray was a dreamer and went to far in the pursuit of his dream.
David Murray nor the Rangers fans nor the media are responsible for the decisions made at boardroom level by every other club in the land, the boards and chairman of those clubs made those decisions....you can keep peddling this pi$h all day if you want, I will hit back with the same argument every single time, because it is the truth!!
Murray was trying to conquer Europe with Rangers, thts why he was spending so much....no one forced anyone else to do the same!!
If you are going to sit there and persistently void all other SPL chairman of all responsibility for the decisions they made that got clubs into financial trouble......I can simply sit and void Murray of all responsibilty for what he did at Rangers, beacuse all he was trying to do was get Rangers to thetop, to compete at the top levels of Europe, and in order to do that, big spending was needed.
Murray fooked up tho, I know that, you know that.....so did the rest of the SPL chairman that, as you put it, followed his word to the letter.
Just coz Murray was the biggest lunatic in the asylum doesnt mean the rest werent mental!!

Traynor is a baw bag
Look, did Murray lead the big spending charge? Of course - no doubt.
And others chased to catch up.
But if it had not been Murray, it would have been someone else.
Would you really have had none of the past 30 years and be stuck a galactical level behind anyone else in europe?
Davie - course they wouldn't
Tho if celts are to believed, Murray was trying to emulate and keep up with celtic, so with tim o tays logic, it's all celtics fault
Traynor marked yer card a long time ago
I bought wan of his papers today after a finished work,as they were no suns left..it's shocking..they have us linked with Dobbie and Keef Jackson just can't get enough of sucking Ronaldo aff
