Rooney undroppable?

It's like saying should the Dutch ditch Van Perise, he was pony as well.

Wayne was poor, but he wasn't the only one. We had no midfield on sunday. Our only tactic was to hoof the ball forward from Hart to Welbeck and then Carroll when he came on.

The Italians basically let us win the first header then pounced on the second ball so we had no time to do anything.

Untouchable.
The sponsors would never let it happen. Nor would the FA. Can't sell merchandise and advertising without your big brand names in the shop window.

the thing is nobody built up Rooney to be Englands saviour other than the media.

There's not another player in the side who wouldn't be dropped for poor form though is there?
Paul Robinson never played for England again after one bad miskick despite having good club form since..

What international form does Rooney have?
It may be down to the England teams lack of strength in depth but it isn't difficult for international quality defenders to make it look like Rooneys not even on the pitch. He's either trying too hard and diving into tackles he shouldn't or he's a mouse.
Nothing in between...

Don't care about the Dutch team so probably yes.

Rooney was bad, but it didn't help that our midfield was non existent

You're right. This isn't an anti Rooney thing at all but for too long our national side has too many places taken as givens due to the names rather than form. Rooney needs genuine competition for his place in the team.

The fact is he is the best player, however I see what you're saying.

If it were me I would have stuck to Welbeck and Carroll and introduced Wayne as a sub.

But even so, there would have been no midfield to work with and we still would have been played off the park.

a lot of it will be based on the players he plays with though.
No disrespect but milner and young are hardly valencia and nani, and parker for all his huff and puff is just that, he's no paul scholes.

Parker and Gerrard were sitting so deep we had no chance of keeping the ball

They sat deep as our defenders sat deep.

what people seem to be forgetting is that Rooney has scored 29 goals for England. that is a decent record. he is no international flop. although I admit he has been well below his best for 2 years now.

for me though, if your going to sit back and defend and try and hit teams on the break, then you need pace on the wings to make these counter attacks happen, and thats why for the life of me i cant understand why Milner was in the team

Saw the funny analogy of Milner yesterday...
He's swimming lengths of the pool while a game of Water Polo goes on all around him...
True so true
