How would Defoe have gotten the ball?
Our midfield was non-existent.
He's better than Barry and Parker. He could be our Xabi Alonso. The problem is when he comes up against Alonso, Alonso would shít all over him.
At least he would have taken a penalty in the shootout........where was Carroll.?.... centre forwards are on the pitch to score goals after all
Andy Carroll would have taken his penalty with his head
He's not bad, better than Parker, Henderson and Barry.
Tom Huddlestone is greedy... and it shows
He's not better than Wilshere though.
In terms of technique and passing, Tom Huddlestone is excellent.
However, there are question marks over his fitness and mobility, and the fact he has played so little for Tottenham over the last two seasons would make selecting him far too risky.
If we wanted a deep-lying midfield anchor who could keep the ball and dictate the game from deep, then Michael Carrick would have been the best player, IMO.
was he not injured for the bulk of the season?

Having Dofoe run at defenders without the ball wouldn't have worried them at all.
If you're imagining him running at defenders with the ball, you're also going to have to explain how he would get the ball on a regular basis.
After all, you can theoretically say exactly the same about Walcott, but in fact he caused Italy's defence no worries whatever, becasue he was rarely in possession of the ball.
The only person I saw running at defenders with the ball was Glen Johnson and he's a defender!
Must admit I do like Huddlestone though, big, young, physical player with speed and a nice touch.
Can anyone explain why Aaron Lennon wasn't there?

Because hes cack
Englands answer is to stop picking players on names example rooney and young. pile of rubbish
Why did Spurs buy Huddlestone only to put him on a pie only diet and stick him in the reserves for the first season he was there? He was never that big at Derby.
He's a quality footballer, but unless he can stay fit enough to play the majority of the season for Tottenham how can any england manager justify his selection?
