can we stop talking about this now, it's becoming very boring to keep going on about Rooney.
He will again be one of the stand out players in PL, that's all i care about now. The Euro's is finished as far as im concerned.
Binky, my bedwetting little pal, if you read the above, you will note that neither Macca or myself are blaming Milner.
It isn't his fault the manager kept selecting him.
The interesting thing about Milner is the season he played his best was centrally for Villa, and yet Hodgson ridiculously picks the guy on the right wing, just because he fits into his defensive policy.
More annoyingly he then gets credit for desperately resorting to Walcott instead of Milner when we're losing with 20mins to go and Walcott proves if you have a bit of pace and attacking flair on the wing it is more effective than someone like Milner!
Certainly it's harsh to blame Milner for his talent or the fact he got picked by Hodgson as our winger. You can only really slate him if he didnt try his hardest and I'd say to be fair he at least tried to put in a shift, just he's not good enough.
Very boring topic but the OP is a bit OTT in his robust defence of Rooney. An article littered with inaccuracies and half-truths.
Rooney is a top player. For England over all, he has not really done anything of note.
To suggest he is not WC is quite rankly fatuous. I am a big fan of Rooney but i am also a harsh critic. I honestly believed that he has not lived up to this potential but that doesnt detract his ability.
RVP? Cavani? Falcao? Even Aguero, better than Rooney? Come on, get real.
Well the OP isn't a United fan so his OTT article is to be expected.
Rooney is not world class. Period!!!
Macca
With regards to England.. Suppose all you can do is get rid of all the old guard and put him in with the young kids and see what happens in 2014,2016 and 2018
He's not the first player to play in a national team where the players around him supposedly arent good enough for him to shine. There's plenty of other nations who are in that same situation. One maybe two good players, the rest.. not so good
I think practically everyone in England has a "grass in greener" complex of the silky smooth #10s in Spain... Fantastic players, no doubt...
But really, sit back and think of what Rooney has achieved... He is breaking records left, right and centre and will almost certainly be UTD's top goalscorer ever, once his career ends. 35 goals in a season as #10... It is dream stuff, if he were a Spainard, playing on the continent... There would be a million and one articles about trying to sign him...
Put simply, take off your club glasses, take off your ingurland glasses.... He is a sensational player that every club in the world would absolutely love to have.

.............................
This is the FIFA / FIFpro team of the year 2011.
2011 Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
Gerard Piqué (Barcelona)
Nemanja Vidić (Manchester United)
Dani Alves (Barcelona) Andrés Iniesta (Barcelona)
Xavi (Barcelona)
Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
......................
So I would suggest that he is and you know jack sh it about football.
So please refrain from putting the word 'period' at the end of your post, as if it means anything of note, and say 'in my opinion' instead.
That way we will just know you have the opinion of an imbecile.

I hope Sir Alex has a word in his ear about the Vegas trip too although in truth, it shouldn't need to be said

Yes, he did last season, as I have shown you above.
So, off you jog.
But would he get into a world XI? No...
---------------------------------------------------
Who is the manager? What system are they playing? Who are they playing? Are they looking for a #10 with a huge goal threat or one that can help dominate the midfield? Can they afford a luxury player or one that tracks back? As you don't seem to imagine that there will be subs in a world X1... Does the #10 need to be able to cover many positions on the pitch?
As you can see, this so called "World X1" is very, very open to suggestion.
What about for this year will he? is he currently world class, no. I have never regarded Rooney as world class and believe him over-hyped by the media.
jspc
I have copied the most recent FIFA / FIFPro one above.
It is the best we are ever going to get.
It is voted for by the players.
Bit hard to knock that team.
What about for this year will he?
................
Probably not, but he won't be far off.
Now, why have you stopped jogging?
I have never regarded Rooney as world class and believe him over-hyped by the media.
Is it because your Irish roots are kicking in here and making you a bit biased? He's a great player and the heartbeat of this United team, he's world class for me and lots of players rate him. Including the likes of Messi.
You do realise that Rooney himself has Irish roots....
Probably not, but he won't be far off.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Fifa World XI is made up of Barca and Real Madrid players with a few players of whoever won the PL that season, So expect Aguero, Silva and Kompany to be in there.
Rooney is an extremely good player but the bracket just below World Class. With Ronaldo, Messi, Pirlo, Xavi, Iniestia etc above him. He is our best player but do we have anyone else who is in the world Class bracket (Minus Vidic)?

No Its called being realistic - he has shown time and time again for England on the big stage he doesn't do it. His most successful time for winning trophies at united when Ronaldo was there.
World Class. With Ronaldo, Messi, Pirlo, Xavi, Iniestia etc above him
-----------------------------
Would you put Scholes in this bracket then, as of now? Because he is as good as Pirlo, probably better..
No as he wouldn't be able to last the whole Tournament and play every game. Did he used to be, of course!

So world class players are only based on tournaments?
Just goes to show that labelling someone "world class" or dismissing someone else's opinion of who is "world class" is a pointless exercise.
