Giroud looks more of a goalscorer, van persie is a top player but not a center forward.
Finally another upside I can see is that we won't have a star player anymore, no-one who can become arrogant and buy into the 'one-man team' bs, no-one who has the demeanour of carrying the team on his shoulders, no-one who wants out. We can start with a fresh slate, 11 hungry, good quality players who will give their all, a more cohesive unit with goals spread around the team and a stronger bench to boot.
-----------------
We always say that though. Next season it could be Song.
Song can't carry the team though. He might be casual at times, but I don't think he's arrogant or lazy, it's just a style of play rather than a permanent mindset. Hopefully we'll get a good back-up DM this summer to keep him on his toes.
Good article, Merte. We have to move on. In my opinion we should sell him now and looking for a replacement as I still think we need to buy a CM, LB and a decent striker.
We surely MUST now invest in a top striker - our squad is weaker than last year if RVP goes. Even if he stays, how good will he be?
RVP and Benny out, Podolski and Giroud in.
RVP has thrown the situation into the light at last, and Wenger and Gazidis cannot get away with any excuses now - if we fail to stregthen then we know they are not ambitious.
If RvP stays then he's on the bench as 2nd choice behind Giroud, simple as that. However with all that's been said, with him not telling Wenger or the club before making the statement, with him lying in the statement about Gazidis being on holiday, I can't see how he can stay at the club. Wenger isn't Mancini, he doesn't stand for his players disrespecting him or club, he cares too much about it.
And yes, If RvP does go, I think we need to sign another striker, but not necessarily a 25 million job, just a good back-up, unless a world-class striker is made available to us e.g. Higuain. If he goes to City then I think we should try to get Dzeko in return.

what? How do you know this?! Perhaps Gazidis' henchman is lying.
Whatever, the accusation clearly gives away a distaste for Gazidis which is felt also by many fans. He is as slippery as they come - not to be trusted.
RVP will definitely be sold imo. Imagine how much pressure there would be on him if he ever put on an Arsenal shirt again. Every misplaced pass, bad touch, missed opportunity etc will pee the fans off.
So disappointed in him. I was almost 100% sure he would stay.

It's been widely reported. Also I'm not sure this is Gazidis' fault, if RvP has any qualms about ambition, then he should go to Stan Kroenke or Wenger, depending on who doesn't want to spend. All Gazidis does is negotiate.

It would be like that at first, but if he started to do well, then the fans might forgive, him, just like United fans forgave Rooney; we have enough fickle plastics to achieve a similar effect.
Still think we should definitely cash in though.

Kamran Agree and think too that we have to sell him now. I am also disappointed and never thought he would leave because of family and loyality reasons. But you know life will go on. Thank god the transfer period leaves us enough time to rebuild our club.
