Ahh Alexia, the token Chelsea fan. Doubt you've been to Stamford Bridge, and if so im sure the (proper)loyalist Chelsea wannabe hooligans didnt take too kindly to an Irish man supporting their team. And when I say Irish man im talking north and south. No difference to them. They hate us all.

Been to plenty of matches at CP. Why do you assume ive never been to matches at CP or Aviva? its not like they are at the other side of the world, but a few hours away from where I live.

Well, my father is from Fulham and i also have an uncle there too. Went to my first match in 1984 (i was 6) for my birthday. A freezing November night against Walsall (in the League Cup)which Chelsea won 3-0. Speedie and the legend that is Kerry Dixon scoring , cant remem who got the other. Only about 15000 at it. The matches i have been to would be in triple figures (away and Wembley/Cardiff matches included) , although i only made it over twice last season. And i plan to take my son over this year to experience the mighty Stamford Bridge!

And you could not be more wrong about the little Irish jab at the end, they are welcoming to all people , North or South and they do know the difference.

So tell me , why did you support Celtic , is it because the big bad Prods support the Gers? Dont be a sheep.

Cool story bro

But I can assure you the loyalist chelsea hooligans/EDL section dont take too kindly to the irish fans.

Me supporting Celtic has nothing to do with big bad prods or religion. If I was a sheep I would support an EPL team like everyone else. I dont, so how does that make me a sheep???

Sheep = Catholic or Prod from NI who support Celtic or Rangers. And Chelsea do welcome Irish fans, next time you watch a Chelsea game , look out for a huge banner saying "Kerry Blues". Stop talking about things which you know feck all about, which in fact , seems to be "par for the course" for you

Why you bringing religion into it? nothing to do with religion. Ive supported Celtic since I was a boy because they were the first team ive ever watched, the family and all my friends supported them so it made sense. If my family and friends all supported Liverpool or Man Utd I would probably have did the same. And I may be an atheist but if I was religious, I would thank god everyday for being a tim.

Like I said, go into one of the bars usually frequented by the Hooligans/EDL and see how long you last with that accent.

Mango

I have been going over to Chelsea games for nearly 30 years and your daft claim about our accent attracting bother is pathetic.
I dare say that if you chanted ra stuff you would get a slap, just as folk singing uv songs would get a slap in the Celtic bars you may be in.
Plenty of Chelsea fans from Eire are welcome at the Bridge and you can see Dundalk etc on flags.
The claim that Chelsea are anti-Irish,north and south,is lies, and frankly, lazy posting.

Are you denying that is the case for people in NI regarding Celtic and Rangers? Do you see many Catholics with Rangers shirts and vice versa?

9 times out of 10 its to do with where you are from? hence the mention of religion , which normally go hand in hand with the 2 Glasgow clubs. If you say it was the 1st team you watched then fair enough. Apologies from me then

If you were an atheist , surely you wouldnt be a "tim"

Fair points Alex.

I am not sure, but I think the tim name came from a Glasgow street gang, known as the Tim Molloy's.
The Billy Boys thing may have come from the leader of another gang, possibly led by a guy named Billy (Henderson)...........so the tim's fought the billy boys.

This could be baws,as my memory is shot.

Agree about the hate filled garbage DC.No need from any side.

What the hell are you two babbling on about?

Im pretty sure the billy they are talking about may have been a certain king.

Mitre

Yea,William 3 may also have summit to do with it,but the old street gangs of tims v billy boys is relevant too.

Any view on where the tim thing originated, and do not mention Leeds or liquidation please.

No idea mate, ironically history bores me sensless.

Quick look on google suggest the gang idea you have is right.

Apology accepted Alexia. If my family and mates supported Rangers then I probably would have done the same, untill I grew up and seen a bit of sense
I dont deny people support Celtic and Rangers because of Religion, but thats a thing of the past tbh. You wont see many kids in Eire supporting Celtic because they are 'kaffliks' and you wont see any Protestant kids supporting Rangers because well because there isnt any rangers Most tend to support there local team and/or a team from the EPL rather than the SPL.
