Bolox!

The reason other clubs think we are a joke is because there are so many of us whinging constantly and being so negative.

Go on the Barnsley board and read their posts. They are favorites to be relegated. Are they whinging, no!

Why do so many of you just see the half empty glass? We could be Pompey FFS, 8 senior pros. Or Rangers ....

But we are not any of them. WE are Derby and yet its us, and our attitude, that's giving other fans the chance to laugh at us.

hmm if I was a florist fan .... that's the kind of article I would post on the Derby board !?

Peeder

I have to say I admire your tenacity and loyalty to the cause. However I find your comments quiet insulting.

You honestly think we have a half full glass sat in front of us? Im sorry to say that for at least 3 seasons now it has been bone dry and empty Mate. We have seen every player with a modicum of talent released, and replaced by possibilities! Some of which have come good, but equally some havent. You have probably sat next to people in your seat at PP who havent paid a penny for the privilege. We now have a turgid and stale atmosphere at our home, and one can only imagine that the new "Massive TV" will accelerate that demise!
We are not allowed to generate our own atmosphere in the build up to a game due to the monstrous PA system now in place. We have children squealing into it pre-kickoff. We have a Manager with a name which is very convenient to extend some of the loyalty for a while longer, who unfortunately seems to be playing along with the game, and as TSAR regularly points out, seems indifferent to the Fans disgust at the sale of Jason Shackell and has not even come forward to give his side of the story. In my eyes he OWES you that much at the very least Peeder!

It is all to easy to construe the opinion of all who doubt GSE to be to go out and spend spend spend. I can tell you that is not the case Mate. A thriving academy? GREAT but at the very least mix it with an amount of experience and leadership to move forward??? £3M?
Peanuts by todays standard!

Forget the lies from the board and glick , NC told us a few weeks ago JS does NOT have to be sold , should JS be sold at a price we cannot turn down we have players lined up in fact we will not sell JS unless a replacement who is equal or BETTER is sorted. We will also be signing a CF , players lined up.
Now we have been turned down by a second class player from Crewe and we start pre season tomorrow , last year NC told us it was important to get players in before pre season traing , not this year then Nigel.
Any other manager would be hounded by press and happy clappers to explain , but his name is Clough , so its OK.
Time some folk got real and woke up .
Some are sick of me moaning about NC , I am sick of folk covering up for him just because of his name.
I meet DCFC fans everyday in my business , I have lots of friends and family who support DCFC and they are all sick of NC , I dont find folk anywhere wanting to give nigel time , three years and now he has joined glick in spin and lies.

Robrea...your 1st paragraph is exactly my thoughts. Im afraid his words are all in black and white. Im not into "his name is Clough" botox..but at the moment Nigel has weakened his side and not added. The more the days go by...the more it seems there was no plan other than to sell Shackell. Nigel will live or die by what he does before the season starts...the fans are at boiling point with the whole way the club is being run and i hope he hasnt made a massive mistake by selling Shackell. The clock is ticking Nigel and its looking more and more every day that your accepting the way GSE are running our club.

Not quite sure how you can compare Derby with Barnsley, although we are now on a similiar level with them which is how the moaning started.

Nobody seemed to question the Liverpool fans when they were protesting in the street against their American owners. in fact they got a lot of empathy!
IMO our American owners have got off very light and I'm surprised its taken the Shackell thing for a lot to turn

Like I say last year NC was telling how he wanted players in quick ready for pre season , this year we have lost Barker, Green, Shackell,Davies, and to date signed a lad untried and can only be potential at best, and talk of a loan for a striker .
Is it no wonder fans are worried and angry.
We need FOUR experianced championship players , not loans but signings , and that is just to STAND STILL !

robrea,
As you know I disagree with you, my view is that it is the responsibility of the board to support the manager after he managed to give us one of our better recent finishes - which just shows how poor we've been over the seasons (excluding the PL where lower half finishes were expected). If a journalist like Steve Nicholson thinks the side needs a bit of investment, then I think his view should be taken on board as he has, probably, closer ties than any of us on here to the club.

You are right to be worried/angry but are laying the blame at the wrong door. Clough is not exempt but our departing chief executive who displayed hypocrisy of the highest magnitude re: Shackell. It's like an MP extolling the virtues of austerity on public sector wages whilst he happily votes himself a nice payrise & pension. Cheers Tom!

I'm with SDS about Barnsley. I wouldn't be complacent, Peeder, because I could see us battling relegation along with them. This is a young Derby side lacking experience & resources; if injuries hit us, this could cause problems. Before we/I panic, let's see who else might arrive.

Theo Robinson has one good season, rumours of a transfer suggest an agent angling for a payrise. Shackell has had several consistent seasons. I know which I would have rather kept.

It's ironic that Mark Robins left after Barnsley said they needed to cut their budget. So, yes, Clough could or should walk out on principle in the view of some. Shackell got sold and probably left because he saw Barnsley were downsizing. Keith Hill took the job, like Clough did the Derby job, because he wanted to test himself at a higher level. Should Hill walk because Barnsley have just sold Butterfield?

Good Points Capnbob,

GSE have milked the ambitions of the supporters down to such a point where we compare ourselves to the Barnsleys of this world.

We're looking at the same type of players and paying the same type of wages. Barnsley has always been seen as a step down from our famous club, not any more.

Imagine if a big club like Burnley ever came in for our best player, with a massive offer.

Len,
One caveat. If the Kuwaitis are so well-to-do, why did the Doughty's sell for a nominal fee (if reported)? I get the impression they simply wanted to pass the responsibility of the club on to someone else (& all the wages etc that have been committed). I listened to Nigel Doughty on 5live once and he said that it was difficult to shift football clubs as it meant shifting debts which a new owner would have to guarantee.

At Chelsea, Abramovich cleared Chelsea's £40m+ debts.

Bob.. What debt?

It was all paid for by Doughty....

What wages?... We have a thin bare squad with very few on long contracts

The club as a whole isn't worth much so they may have only paid (let's say 10M) but it is and I quote them " a club steeped in history"

They want to make us famous again. Something your owners have already done but for the wrong reasons .

No, it was paid for by the beneficiaries of the late Mr Doughty's estate. So many lies come from your fingers, Webbo, that you don't actually need to use them any more. Just tap the keyboard with your nose.

Jonathan Greening (wages). Two years remaining, yes? Ishmael Miller? Just another observation. I'm not saying that Forest couldn't conceivably go out and spend millions now, but where was the leadership that has seen Chambers & Lynch go? If I was the chief executive at Forest, I would have had dialogue with the players to wait till the TO was complete and then see what would transpire. I know these are young men with families, but I would've asked them to wait and see what the club might offer them.

ok.. Doughty over the years and his beneficiaries since January.. so what?... we have no debt now, they will be happy to of sold on and it seems our knew owner is happy to have bought a club steeped in history

posted on 11/7/12

Debt was to Doughty not banks or whoever. So for the nominal fee the Hawasi family acquire the club in its current state and the debts are closed. They were the running costs over the Doughty decade so its not like anything had to be cleared, the Doughty family are fans and were just waiting for the right owner to come in and it looks like they've found them. Pity you already sold JS coz we're looking for a few centre backs could have thriown you a few more pence than Burnley now that we're filthy rich!! haha

Our CEO is Arthur who was responsible for the calamities that we incurred this past 10 years mainly being the debt and player contracts runing out. I and many other Forest fans look forward to him being one of the first casualities of the Hawasi era!

Yes Bob, I did say a few on long term contracts and Greening has been playing with an injury. He may improve. Miller and Derbyshire are just wasted space.

Maybe the new owners did not want Chambers or Lynch. Or it could be that they just wanted a move. If Chambers was so concerned about staying in Nottingham for his families sake, I'm sure Clough would have attempted to sign him.

Len,
tbh, I wouldn't have minded selling JS to you if it meant you gave us the price we wanted!

Wise last comment. Look, I made the observation because the Doughty family, his wife, Lucy, want to move on with their lives and being stuck with a football club, a financial entanglement, does not help matters. It is harder to sell clubs with debt (Newcastle couldn't find a buyer) yet if someone is well-to-do, then you'd expect them to pay a decent price. People have to live in the real world. A football club is a drain on finances.
