SouthAfrican are known for not finishing it off.Seaming wicket at Headingly and we all know English bowlers can wreck batting collapses if they get a wicket or 2 with the new ball.
In nutshell, English bowlers performance with the new ball will determine the outcome,IMO.
"Ding dong. I am understanding that South Africa failed to beat Australia at home? That has got to be a shockingly poor result these days? Didn't Sri Lanka take a test off them over there too recently?"
No, Sri Lanka haven't taken a test off us, we won there a last year 1-0. Didn't England lose a test against SL recently?
In the last year Australia have won 9 test and lost 2, England have won 6 and lost 5.
Dunc, I was talking about Sri Lanka taking a test off the Saffers lol
I am not always having a go at your side buddy lol
Yes they have had their blips but not to the extent where they get whitewashed by a mediocre Pakistani side, losing a test is not as bad as being whitewashed!! Yes they lost at home but they have proved they can adjust whether home or away.
England are not the best side in the world by any stretch of the imagination and its foolish to start chest beating that.....they are good but thats about it.
SA got 10x more wickets than England. So by that logic they have a10x better bowling attack than England. Argument settled!
Yepp they were ten times better than us this week for sure.
England bowlers were gd, just didnt have the fire power from broad specifically which could have helped anderson by taking another quick wicket. Steyn had the luxury of morkel, philander kallis and tahir picking up wickets regularly whereas in england they picked the snd wicket almost after a day. And plus england bowlers for some reoson have all reduced their pace by like 10k. it almost looked like praveen kumar was bowling without swinging it.

Thanks Neon. It looked for a while like we were going to escape with a draw today, but then Steyn got the new ball and destroyed us.
When we are beaten like this, it almost amuses me. Who would have thought hey?
Makes the next one interesting anyway
why did steyn say "farv" when he got five wickets ?
he held his hand up and said "farv, farv"
That gesture was intended more towards English players.Expect a similar gesture from an English bowler as retaliation in the coming tests.

The story is that he showed 5 fingers to the coach because he was angry at not getting the new ball.
broad is miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllles more aggresive than finn.
^^ lol Pine, that is certainly one way of looking at him.
One of the strange things was that our bowlers did not appear to be sledging their batsmen, after all Jimmy and Broad used to enjoy a few words. Is that because of Amla being a devout Muslim I wonder and they felt it might be construed as racist or especially insulting. Certainly the whole of the SA innings was conducted in a very subdued atmosphere.
I once recall on Pakistan's tour of Australia when Watson, and Watson only decided to sledge Mohammad Yousuf. A few mins later the TV station showed, Yousuf going off on one, he seemed pretty angry towards Watson... Whilst that was happening Watson just stepped back and seemed very apologetic. So, you don't sledge certain people I guess and Yousuf is Amla's brothers, so...
So you are implying that muslims should be treated differently or are better than others.

it's a very interesting point.
Nobody should get a free ride, Muslim or otherwise
That said, it's always going to be a difficult sledge when he's knocking you to all corners at will and there's nothing you can do to stop him. Perhaps we'll see a bit of sledging IF the 'world's best bowlers' manage to scrape together a wicket or two in the next match.
