Jeepster - we must be rolling in it then.
After all, last April Robrea told us that we were selling Mason Bennett to Man City for £1.5 million - done deal at the end of last season.
So where are these facts then?
Mason Bennett to Man City for £1.5 million - done deal at the end of last season.

Eddie as we all know we've got a prized asset in Mason Bennet, also a selling asset. With Tom Glick moving to Man City he's bound to say Derby County have got a young up and coming talent, and knowing Derby we will sell, maybe not this season but it will happen. Somebody said to me a few months ago, if Derby sell Shackell there will be a fair few fans who would be mad, and they could see Nigel walking. Well there's a hell of a lot of fans angry about the Shackell situation, also I heard Nigel was on the verge of leaving. Read into that what you will.
Wassa, people assumed that Shackell was sold for the yanks to pocket cash, yet we've spent more on Keogh. I told you that this was not about cash.
Wassa:
I agree you did say that Shackell was on his way out - didn't you mention Fester? It was way before the end of last season, and I would hazard a guess that was about the time that Robrea suggested that Mason was City-bound.
However, no club in their right mind (ok, who said that City were in their right mind anyway?) are going to gamble 7 figures on a schoolboy based on half a dozen substitute appearances.
If Clough has finally put his foot down over the Shackell sale, then that's a good thing, and the surprising purchase of a couple of players this week may not be unrelated. It might also go some way to explaining his explosion over the Crewe lad turning us down.
Undisclosed fees for both. How do you know Mostyn, The Keogh deal looks remarkably similar to the one done for Shackell last year.
Mostyn, so where's the money gone for Addison and McGuire??????
Mostyn , have you ever said anything factual ??
We've signed Jacobs and are still gonna sign some more
Mostyn, now go and see him play before you give us your opinion
What has that got to do with anything? I will see him play but I was answering a question!
Why does everyone have a "theory" for these transfers? The manager has shipped out one defender to make way for a younger defender who he obviously believes is, or will be, better.
I don't know if he's right, but is that simple scenario really more difficult to believe than talk of fall outs and blind panic after the sale of Shackell. I swear some of you fishwives wouldn't be out of place in the tea rooms on last of the summer wine.
There is much speculation on these boards about the motives for player sales and investments (or lack thereof). I'm inclined to believe none of it and instead will reserve judgement until the season is properly underway.
However there is one thing of which I'm certain - neither Nigel or Glick/GSE are stupid. Both have many faults but wilful incompetence is not one of them (that said some of Nige's substitution decisions have pushed me close to that view!). So, if we can safely draw the "not stupid" conclusion, then it follows that there is a sensible motive behind the Shackell sale and also that the grand plan is not to so starve the club of investment that we plummet down the leagues and the owners equity stake is wiped out. The thing I find truly bizzare is that some posters seem to believe that this least plausible of motives for GSE's actions is best met by a strategy of witholding their ticket paying money, a strategy that would only hasten the very thing they claim to fear!?!
Just saying.
Larry first time poster, happy posting
Cheers Wassa. Been reading for a while but could no longer resist throwing in my two penneth worth.
The more posters the better, just watch out for Mostyn and 666
At the minute im happy with Jacobs,Coutts and Keogh coming in. Im not happy with Shackell going and couldnt give 2 hoots about Green and Addison. But if Shackell going has given Clough a bit of flexability then ok. A manager has to make decisions...we only comment. His Decisions on transfers will be on full view Aug 18th. If his judgements go wrong then we can all look forward to a Management duo of Robrea and 666...they know best..
Larry, I hope all your posts are as sensible and well judged.

£1.1 million, if true, is astonishingly bad business. If the fee really is this low surely there are other factors involved in the move. Maybe Shackell has forced the transfer, maybe there has been yet another falling out? I'm afraid a measly 200k profit doesn't cut it. Having Shackell in the team over the course of even one season is easily worth that much to us.
How about an alternative view to the 'manager falling out with CEO' and various conspiracy theories?
Nigel loses Green, so brings in a younger player who plays the same position, the saving in salary paying for the transfer fee
Nigel does not like Maguire's attitude, so sells him and brings in a younger player who plays in the same position for the same money
Nigel is not totally convinced about Shackell, so sells him and brings in a younger player who plays in the same position, makes him Captain and pays the money he's just got for Shackell.
Perhaps this is starting to look more like a plan. Whatever next? Maybe Davies goes and we get a player who plays more than 20 games a year
There is no plan at all, or if there is he changes it as soon as a player looks at him the wrong way.
Spending big money (for us) on Shackell then getting rid after only a year when just about everyone agrees he had a very decent season? Where does that fit in to the grand plan?
Getting rid of shackell before he played 50 league games has saved us a bit of £££'s pleased with the signings up to yet....another C/b wouldn't harm, another left back maybe to cover Roberts....I'd make Steve Davies stop to play his 20 games and get another injury and let him see what offers he gets at the end of his contract...I wonder what his next injury will be, Head, shoulder, knees and toes..
Regarding GSE...I'm not a fan for 1 minute...but DErby fans need to ask themselves, who else is there to take over? Nobody.....and why are they here? Because Gadsby got to the point where he'd had enough of put £££'s into the club and the fans still demanding more investment....so he got Pearson to arrange a takeover...and GSE where the only 1's.

I've always said they should've brought that director of football in, it looks like its backfired on them. But what does Glick care, he's going to Man City?! The hypocrite.
