MIkel Last Season

Mikel had a good season, I agree, shame others can't see it. Hopefully next season he will build on this and show the form that he produced at the start and end of last season

Mikel suffers in equal measures from unfair criticism and over the top praise. from Chelsea fans.

I think that you tube clip also shows the good and the bad of Mikel in equal measures.

And to think that some people keep banging on about signing Parker, as Essien's replacement, when we have Mikel and Ramires is absolutely laughable!

Parker is not to replace Essien, Mikel and Ramires will start, the want parker to be a back up for these two players.
We are not going to get a replacement for Essien, if we get someone it will be a back up player.

I think what he is saying is both Ramires and Mikel can play the role Essien does at the club (which is the box to box/ defensive midfielder role) and if we got Parker we would have three players who could play the same role in midfield

David Luiz - The Geezer from Benfica
I see what you mean, but if he wasn't injured we would have 3 of them anyway.

You also seem to forget that some fans were of the opinion, that Essien should be sold.
If the Club had the same views as the fans, and he was eventually sold...it would have been Mikel and Ramires.
Moreover...we won the league some seasons ago, without the services of Essien, and there was no additional player that was bought as back-up for Mikel and Ballack.
It's almost the same situation @ the moment.

We had Belletti who covered them then.

Belletti was a right back, right?
What makes you think if in the unlikely case of Ramires and Mikel being injured at the same time, that Luiz can't do a job there, considering he has played the DM role @ Benfica?
Like I said...an additional player is not needed to cover for Essien, or as back-up to Mikel and Ramires.
We can cope!

Thank you very much!
This whole Essien's injury has been blown out of proportion.
We coped without the services of Essien some seasons ago, and went on to win the League...how is it any different from now?
I hope this whole Parker story is finally buried once and for all.

I'm not saying we need it, but if you look at the injury recored of Ramires and Mikel, they usually miss about 8 games each. Ramires won't be there for the first few games because of the coppa america, same with Luiz. That leaves us with Mikel who can play in Dm.
Belletti played lot's of games at dm for chelsea, he may of started off as a right back, but he become a dm at chelsea after the 1st season.

Super Dan Sturridge

No need to debate any further...the Club has officially said that there won't be any cover for Essien.

He said they are not going to get a replacement, hence why we were linked with parker.

Last season convinced me of one thing: Mikel is rubbish he has to go.

I always have thought it, but his performances last year confirmed that to be true.

What are you on about?
The Club never wanted to sign Parker...it was cooked up journalism!

"The squad is littered with world-class players and the idea of replacing someone or not replacing someone sounds a little bit ludicrous."....Emenalo

He was on about replacing a world class player with another world class player.

On another point, since when have the club started commenting on transfer speculation, thought their policy is to not comment on any transfer related things.

They had to comment, because it was an unfounded story, which had to be cleared.
It's absolutely laughable that the Club would want to sign an ex player, who was sold because he didn't fit into the system, or that he wasn't good enough for the Club.
To make matters worse...he is 30 years old!
The Club are trying to reduce to average age of the squad...not increase it!

I now understand that one of the problems of some Chelsea fans is too much sentimentality.
They never seem to be able to move on, and forget about some certain players, who have played for the Club in the past, or who were instrumental to the success of the Club, but on current form...are no more good enough!

This same sentiments is being showed towards Lampard!
Lampard was once a great player, but some fans just can't accept the fact that he is getting on, and that he has to be replaced, sooner rather than later!
Thank God the Club doesn't share the same sentiments...if not, we would stagnate, and be like AC Milan!
