Welcome to the famous board

Actually bored already, just a little Reminder that the Fuxers were giving it large last season and know how that panned out, for your sake you'd better hope something similar doesn't befall you's or this board will be a hive of activity and all the little cling-ons who've come out of the woodwork recently will be scurrying back to wence they come.

"for your sake you'd better hope something similar doesn't befall you's"

I'll go with this, or a similar version of it which is written in proper english.

That's the sensible idea Professor. You have to have optimism at the start of the season. Something our owners didn't understand when they sold Shackell. I am reasonably optimistic now though. If the young lads come through we could have a very good season. If they don't there is always another year. I will have my £10 on for promotion again. I am still playing with the bookies money from our last promotion.

Sexist and homophobic. Good one.

Perhaps using words with more than two syllables is worrying you. More apologies from me.

Where does it say that we're going to storm this leauge?

We're just excited at what's happening to our club. From the fiasco of last season, everything thats transpires now can only be deemed as positive.

We don't know where its's goona take us, but we're going to enjoy the ride.

Talk about your own goings on at your club and enjoy your own ride

Spartacus - glad to see not all Derby fans have an issue conversing as adults. Hope you are enjoying our ride too

The dierby posters on this site have illustrated my earlier point to perfection.
Some slightly green eyed, but at least having the dignity to laugh about it.
Whilst others are trying to concoct the ridiculous point that us forest fans think we're now gonna romp to the premier league this season.

Just for the record (once again)..... We don't.
As our new owners have said themselves - this is a season of consolidation. Of rebuilding. No pressure.

As prof & sherif said earlier.... I'm just enjoying the ride.

We don't have to win every game for me to enjoy the season.

We don't have to win promotion for the season to be a success.

But you never know .....

"They have said they are going to sign an impressive manager.
DF - yeah but he's hardly the iconic manager we expected."

No, THEY said they were going to sign an iconic manager; we said you weren't. And we were right (unless of course they meant to say 'iconic in Doncaster' )

"We are extremely happy without new signing."

...then you should probably start supporting us instead

It's the media that have used the word iconic in a twisted way. The new owners' actual words were: "We are talking to several main iconic names that have a very clear understanding of this league".
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18835397

So they were talking to several iconic names, they probably did, but they never said that they would appoint an iconic manger. The media gave us that impression, not the new owners.

And after appointing O'Driscoll, which i believe is the best thing they could have done, they said this: "We interviewed many well-known and high profile figures but we truly believe Sean O'Driscoll is the best man for the job".

Hope this helps

They don't let facts get in the way of their only hope of happiness, i.e. our failure

posted on 24/7/12

Sure, you keep telling yourself that!

They were only talking to several iconic potential managers, but we shouldn't take that as they actually wanted to hire one; they perhaps just needed some company, or help with a crossword puzzle, or something along those lines, and the perverse English press spun it into something quite different.

Perhaps they did want to hire one and perhaps they tried and could not persuade one to join but that's hardly lying is it

Sure, and I respect the appointment of O'Driscoll and think he'll do well for you if last season is any evidence, but your man was asking why fans of other clubs were decrying their failure to appoint an "iconic manager" which WAS their stated intention, and indeed goes on to use this as 'evidence' of the jealousy of those fans.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure most fans (and especially ours) would prefer the expectancy and hope of a new administration compared to the known limitations of their current owners, perhaps with the exception of Man City and Chelsea fans, but to cite an example where your new board said one thing and then delivered another as proof of this is just childish and weakens the OP's point.

posted on 24/7/12

Lets face it, the OP was on the wind up and all he did was re-hash another article from before to see if it could get any more bites now that the finally signed someone of note for them, but a Wolves reject to the rest of us.

666 I think they fully intended to hire a well-known manager, or iconic as they put it. I'm delighted, though, that they are listening to the players and the fans. The same is demonstrated with the signing of Pep, probably not someone they were that familiar with before studying the performance of the team last season, yet on the advice of players and SOD have now secured his signature.

In the end I would prefer that they explored options and picked the best for our club. I would say that SOD is a better option in many fans eyes than Hoddle, Keane and all those others who were/were not interviewed.

Picking over who said what when is irrelevant so long as the result is the desired one.

Can you imagine the uproar if GSE splashed out £3.5m on a player?!!

I think I'd be on tena ladies for a week at least.
