I think this squad will struggle unless we sign another CB and a winger. It's certainly not a top 10 squad currently. But you never know how people will perform under a new manager.
There's 6 trialists listed above but altogether thats a 27 man squad and SOD has spoken about needing a 25 man squad and leaving it at that. Problem is we have 7 strikers competing for one, possibly two positions and possibly 7 centre medifield players competing for the same whereas we're badly short in central defence, full back and the wing!! Too much imbalance and not enough competition in certain areas
I would question whether we're taking most of those trialists on. Neither Moussa, Gillett nor Bouzid played in the last friendly.
Gillet was DRFC player of the eyar last year and is only 26 so he presents good value but we're already knee deep in centre midfield. Mussa looks likely as we've literally no wingers. Bouzid is a journey man, a cheap back up centre half but would be happy enough if we're left him be.
Leicester fan in peace. We had moussa last season andthough he looked decent in carlingcup he is not good enough for championship IMO. Just saying
Plugging the gaps with freebies and Kuwaiti trialists is hardly the backbone of a promotion campaign. if promotion on the cheap was easy everyone would do it, the worrying thing is this year the championships gonna be its most competitive in years
I think he is going to use Reid as a wide left player.
Not ideal as a winger but very good with his crosses. Although we need speed I have a feeling we are going to be threading the ball through the middle and use Reid for crosses.
I agree though we could do with at least one more pacey winger. Preferably a right hand side one
I hope we haven't done spending, because we still need at least a couple more players, even if we are taking on some of these Kuwaiti trialists (Which seems likely in the case of the GK and Bader).
I hope we are patient enough to realize that this isn't going to be a sprint to the Premier League with the new owners in charge though. The new season should be seen as laying down new foundations to build on, rather than adding finishing touches.
Of course SOD may just want to see where we are at against Villa before he makes any more acquisitions.
If you ask me, there is absolutely no doubt that we need to add at least two wingers. The OP says we'll probably play 4-3-3 with the current squad, but surely 4-3-3 is only really a success with wide players. What we going to do, juts lump 3 centre forwards on together so they can all stand on the edge of the box?
Without width, I think we'll struggle to break the top half, with some decent width added (and hopefully a further cb) I think we could challenge for, and probably miss out on, the playoffs.
Key thing to remember, though, is this season is only stage one.
The reason I say 433 is cause thats the formation SOD favoured at Donny. At present we'd have Miller whose used to playing on the left side of a 433 but he's always injured. Reid is better inside the midfield 3 as he doesnt have the pace for a left sided winger role. We most definately do need wingers, at least 2!! But I have a bad feeling our spending is done
I can't see us buying a left sided winger.
He will use Cohen or Reid there unless one of these trialists can play in a wide position
I hope McGoldrick doesn't get the right side. We deffo need to invest in an attacking right winger, who can cross, cut in and shoot

Na - I don't believe we're done. I think he's taking time to evaluate players on trial now that the crucial signing of a back four is done. I think we'll see a few players yet - either on loan or permanant.
Forestlen...........you know what you are !!
We started pretty late so we have missed out on some decent players.
Hope not because the squad so far is nowhere near good enough.
Midtable obscurity for us if there is no new additions.
Nowhere done spending, trust me
