Hmmmmm I agreed with the most part, apart from Gerrard being phased out !!

Gerrardc has still got a lot to offer. Now is the time we need him most IMO.. He needs to help the younger players have the right mentality.

I actually prefer us playing without Gerrard - I think we're a more balanced team.

I love Gerrard and he's my favourite LFC player of all time and still think he has a lot to offer but mainly in the big games when we need his drive and passion.

I fully agree Fred, without exception. stevieG, who some will not tolerate any form of challenge, has been a fantastic player and skipper. But Father Time waits for no man. stevieG is 32(?)this year. And it is beginning to show. his interview ( the man can be forgiven for not showing an overwhelming desire to travel just 130 klicks from Chernobyl to play a game of football) showed a tired man, hence my support of your views. I think we would all appreciate the option of using Gerrard more sparingly, and not relying on him every match.

Isn't Belarus hundreds of miles from Ukraine? Or did I imagine that?

Sorry to pick up on that part alone!

I know what you're saying Fred but we still need Gerrard. We're not there yet to play bench or play without a player of his quality. He was England and one of the best players in the Euros for crying out loud.

Regardless of how old he is he's still a quality player and still got a lot left.

Agree to disagree honest.

Gerrard/Bellamy, 2 fantastic players with still a lot to offer, on and off the pitch. One in 2 games for each of them perhaps, not ruling out 4/5 games on the trott given fixtures and form if need be either.

But yeah i agree, also i think if he slows down and we ease the expectation on him we could have him around for much longer ala Scholes/Giggs. Given he looks after himself like Bellars that is.

Fred, if that is our side at the end of August, I'll be a very happy man. However, due to the sheer volume of midfielders at the club, I can't see both Ramirez and Allen coming in unless the likes of Aquilani, Cole and Adam all leave.

Also, after watching his performances from England u-19 through to the GB squad, I have been incredibly impressed by Jack Butland and the progress he has made. I would love us to make a move for him and then loan him straight back to Birmingham so he can continue to develop his talent.

I find it madness to leave Stevie out?

Pirlo is (33) Lampard was still doing a job at (33) Scholes, Giggs, Zidane, Bellamy etc....

He's far from finished, nut wont play every game! I think most though!

I can see Aquilani leaving. And since the game will be about midfield they will tire with Europa League games so the more midfielders the better.

Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Allen, Lucas, Gerrard, Ramirez

Works for me.

Last season Gerrard was never match fit after being out for almost a year. He only became fit during the Euros and was the only positive from England.

Could it be the case that our skipper is an 'all-or-nothing' man?. I mean that with the greatest of respect. Since February, when he came back, he hasn't been the same. Please, can anyone challenge me on this? jimmyTheRed

Scratch my original lineup - I think we might well be selling Daniel Agger!

JTR, when he came back the first time last season, he looked back to his best.

Then he had that foot infection and when he came back from that he wasn't himself.

Maybe this is the downhill slide, maybe just a set back.

His place shouldn't be untouchable but people have said the same over the years about over 30 players then they have a stormer of a season. It happened to Hyypia, Giggs, Scholes, Gary Mac.

Doesn't mean he will or won't. Just that I'm not ready to write him off just yet.
