Dravid's gone though?

Put the full squad up?

Prepare dustbowls and pick at least 2 spinners for every match, can't see England being able to stand up to that.

tests - sehwag, gambhir, tendulkar, pujara, raina, VVS, dhoni, zaheer khan, piyush chawla, umesh yadav, r ashwin, ojha, ishant sharma, kohli, and rahane

I guess dats an option duncan.

Arent Pujara and Rahane good choices? I think VVS days will be numbered soon after poor series against England and Aus.

Duncan is right playing 2 spinners and Ashwin and Ojha work well togther. Yadhav will get you reverse and Khan looks fit.

In India, when do our seamers win us games? It's the batsmen and spinners that win games in India. I don't see our batting failing against England in India.

Also..India will go in with 2 spinners, 2 seamers. Zaheer being one of the spinners will do most damage when the ball is reversing and the 2 spinners will be reasonably effective throughout. I don't think there is anything wrong with the squad picked. Don't forget, this is in India we are playing.

India are the best ODI team.

Wrong post, sorry.

India are a totally different animal at home.

We haven't seen the English pacemen play in India for quite a while now, and last time out they were less than inspired.

Even Swann was hit all over the place back then in 2008. Admittedly it's been a while since then but I still don't see them winning. If they win, then they will fully deserve their current #1 status.

You will be suprised pine. Our batting aint that gd as u think. Atleast not in the recent form. I dont have faith in sehwag, gambhir, vvs and to some extent sachin( who's form in cricket has been dismal) and he is going to come into these tests without playing competitive cricket. dont look at what they did 5 years ago. look at what they have done currently.

Gambhir has been in good form in the ODIs. Hard to judge VVS and Sachin as you said, they've not been playing any cricket lately. Sehwag looked in good nick in the ODIs as well. The NZ tests will give a good indication of the kind of form they are in ahead of the England series.

Viru you have been criticizing this squad but haven't really suggested whom do you find missing here, and who should have been replaced with whom. To me, like others are saying this is a reasonable squad, India never relies on seamers. The pitches will just support spin otherwise Anderson and Co will become too dangerous to handle for the home team.

1. Sehwag
2. Gambhir
3. Kohli
4. Tendulkar
5. Laxman
6. Raina
7. Dhoni
8. Ashwin
9. Ojha
10. Zaheer
11. Yadav

This will most likely be the team for the NZ series as well as the England series

winningways let me give u one example. pujara deserves to be in the 11, but since raina has been selected, it closes the door for him. We need to give rahane, who has a better technique as an opener, than both sehwag and gambhir. rahane needs to be given a longer run in home series to get that confidence up for away tours. Ishant sharma gets an automatic nod since he is in the squad. That means yadav wont play.

If odis was the reoson for this selection, then irfan pathan deserves to be in the playing 11 more than any player. there is no Saha, who is a better batsman and wicket keeper than dhoni.

Also to point out, I thought this should be a good chance for India to prepare for away tours. SA 2013 should be in mind, and with that most of the players playing in this squad cannot retain their place.
This are the stats of our batsman
1.) gambhir hasnt scored a test 100 since 2010
2) neither has sehwag
3) neither has tendulkar in the past 22 innings.
We still got time, but I thought it would have a gd chance for us to introduce youngsters in the NZ test series. if this players do fail, then we wont be able to drop them for england series.
Im not critisizing. It is the reality and if we dont see it now, then we will be struggling in SA

Pujara hasn't been in the side for 20 months, Raina has done well in ODIs. Also, he did well in tests on the SC so he would get the nod ahead of Pujara for me too.

Sehwag and Gambhir have been our test openers for a long time and that shouldn't change. You just can't justify dropping either. We need Sehwag to get rapid starts and Gambhir complements him well, especially being a lefty.

I reckon Yadav will play ahead of Ishant.

Saha is no way a better batsman or keeper than Dhoni. In any case, we need Dhoni's captaincy.

Tendulkar and Kohli were your best batsmen in the tour of Australia. Yadav bowled well at times and I don't think Saha is better than Dhoni, maybe someday he will be, but right now Dhoni is a lot better.

move over you old gits. give someone else a chance

Age has got nothing to do with it if there is no one good enough to replace them.

rohit sharma

I'd do a better job than him.

posted on 10/8/12

If India loses this series , I will suggest to change our captaincy to Gautam Gambhir .

posted on 10/8/12

i watched him score a hundred for mumbai in the domestic final in 2009. looked absoloute quality.

Change Rohit Sharma and bring Manoj Tiwary in his place permanently , enough of negligence towards him .

posted on 10/8/12

Well I guess Indian and Pakistani selectors think alike because Rohit Sharma should not be playing limited overs cricket. His career is being damaged by playing that format. He is a Test batsman, and he is suited that form. Therefore, he should be playing Test cricket, not ODI or T20 cricket.
