"They way Rooney has been performing for England, he should be anything but a nailed on starter. Therein lies the problem with England. Too many players think they are undroppable"

The one good thing with England is with Hart and Butland the keeper situation is looking like sorting itself out.

The lampard selection is baffling.

"The lampard selection is baffling."

Because he didn't play in the Euro's, Cahill im guessing has been picked for the same reason.

missed penalty? it doesnt Mata (U1762)

Surely a youngster would be better for a friendly? We all know what Lampard can do at International level anyway.

Despite the poor timing, this may be the first time in years I have been reasonably happy with an England squad!?!?

Hodgson's absolutely spot on.

We need to be looking at the 2014 World Cup, and we have to start bleeding our youngsters into the senior squad if we stand any chance.

The Olympics will have been valuable in giving some of them genuine tournament experience. Here's hoping they can build on it over the next 2 years.

Whats the point of this match? No matter how well the hopefuls play when a competitive match comes around it will be back to dinosaurs like Terry and Gerrard.
