Excellent Article. Well said sir.
How dare you question Garth Crooks wisdom. All hail Garth!
Ivan, great article bud. However, the suggestion of a legacy is pure fantasy. Debt is what we will be left with.
i thought generally the coverage was appalling.
the swimming team was about the best though.
although i thought michael johnson provided soe excellent input, inppite of the constant ignorant interrupations fro john inverdale, the BBC's star of the show was Ian Thorpe.
Give him his own show BBC
Ivan, I think your thoughts are epitomised by the fact that a certain Garth Crooks decided that Brazil's Neymar was in his team of the tournament in central midfield.

AK - the legacy will be determined by the government and how much they fund sport in schools and have resources for people to use. Cameron has already laid the foundations for the cuts in sports by saying that it's the teachers who have been at fault for our rising obesity levels by not encouraging kids to participate - despite the current government slashing budgets and taking away specialist teachers for P.E. (along with art etc).
You win gold medals when you put the funding in. I don't think we'll be repeating this haul again.
Fist-tastic article.

The Olympics have been good, but heroes???
No - the real heroes start next week
Henrik, surely not???
It's just incredible how inept some of these guys are.
JPB - I thought the swim team were fantastic. Balding, Thorpe and Foster were brilliant and very watchable. Great chemistry between them too. Whereas the football guys have this clearly false "banter" that they do that is just so forced and horrible to watch...
Ivan The funding for elite sport will be maintained in the run up to Rio. in order for this top happen, cuts have to occur in non-elite sport. This means schools. With reduced funding in school sports and facilities an olympic legacy is impossible.

I wouldn't blame him for going though to an EPL team.

yes, i agree they were a good team. thought the lead commentator was a bit of a weak point at times, and there were some days where there seemed to be some friction between him and adrian moorehouse.
i was surprised at how competent balding was, and as ive suggested above i thought mark foster was good and thorpe was excellent.
certainly the best team during week 1, albeit that the competition was very week. the athletics team was ok i though, but the beeb wasted michael johnson's expertsise by having the clueless john inverdale interrupt him every time he went to speak. i thought cram was very condescending to certain athletes (and cram was one of my favourite ever athletes), and that the repeated shots of lewis and jackson acting like a pair of schoolkids every time a gb athlete ran was wasy over the top). at least the commentary in the athletics was very competent though (aside from my observations about cram), which was lacking in aa number of the other sports, most notably in the form of that complete and utter burke who does the rowing commentary.
The bot about him asking to go now is clearly made up though. £3 million and not a penny less
None of them are heroes. They are just people who spend their whole lives training for themselves, to better themselves, to win a gold medal for themselves.
Heroes?
Pffft...
Garth Crooks had the english, sorry British, keeper in his team of te tournament
But had no Craig Bellamy. The guy is a pleb with a horrendous knowledge of the game.
As much as I love the game, (football), to be honest, it just seemed to hang around like a bad smell at this Olympics.
It's painful watching Denise Lewis talking. It's like a game of jenga, I'm just waiting for it all to fall apart.
