Don't think they'll have much choice. Don't think it's what the right-wing Catalanists intended to start with, but they've got themselves in a position where they won't be able to refuse.

But what happens? They have an illegitimate referendum which will only tell everyone whether or not they want to be independent?

the centre-right independence party the CiU, led by Mas, was the one pushing this election, they actually got less seats than they did in 2010..it was a disaster for Mas !

surprisingly the left wing independence party did alot better than expected and finished 2nd..

CiU on its own didnt do well enough to ask for a referendum..it would have to work with the left wing independence party ..which i think is unlikely
