Why send Bresnan out to do the press conference?
=========================
who do you suggest then ? i dont think he said anything against KP tbh, just being positive about england before the game.
The English players have denied it was them who sent those Tweets. But, it was a friend of a player who sent them. Once again that does not matter. Just because a friend of mine commits a crime does not mean I'll go down for it, right?!
====================
of course it matters.
he was complicit in the whole thing.
the reason pitetersen thought it was a team mate was because the tweets included information only his teamm mates had been told. they then went and blabbed it to their mate who turned it into a twitter account which they then started following.
it's disgusting behaviour and in any other profession would lead to displcinary proceedings and probably sacking.

GPB,
You're right I dont argue that, not eveyone gets on in life but for the sake of the team get on with it and play the game. Pietersen should be playing on thursday regardless IMO, like I said about Warne, publicly loathed the coach but it didn't stop them from getting the job done.
What this is petty and all a bit laughable to me.
If he doesn't like the captain and Swann doesn't like him I don't give a hoot, you're grown men and professionals (Well apparently) play the game and move on.
You're right though twitters, books all a mess. Sigh.
Really, disgusting behaviour really? Worth sacking? Seriosuly?
I read the Tweets there was nothing personal or too personal. Family was not mentioned, only KP. The fact that he doesn't drive a Jaguar etc... Seriously, that's personal?!
When I first saw the account I saw it as banter it being funny etc... If KP had a problem with it, couldn't he tell his players, the coach, the skipper, the ECB? No he had to come out and say he's going to retire instead.
Sorry, but like I said before KP sending texts to his homeland players disrespecting his adopted country. Is the worst thing about this situation. That shows what KP is. You work the rest out.
I fully support the England selectors. KP is pushing his luck time after time and now I am sick to death of him.
If it's not one thing it's the other.
R.I.P. - KP as an England cricket player. I am sick of him.

Its a crying shame it has come to this really. We all knew KP had/has a massive ego and I thought he was very well managed really and we seemed to have a unity that shone so brightly.
Has Broady become a premadonna well I think so,in fact he has acted like a spoilt brat for the last 3/4 years in my opinion and seems to love the attention nearly as much as KP.
I cant and wont defend KP on this but I believe tensions should be brought to an head and controlled in the dressing room and left there. But KPs so cold private communications have been leaked by someone within the ECB.
Finally did Swanny not publicly criticise KP as a captain in his autobiography? Of course be bloomin did!.Should he have been dropped? I think not,but where is the parity?.
This whole affair is dirty and boring and tarnishing the beautiful game of Cricket in what should have been an exciting series against South Africa. If it carries on like this it will end up like Premier League Football.
Neon, I won't even start talking about what I think of Premier League football players mate......... Oh I just did start?
Whatever happens to KP in the future, and we will not be able to influence anything, there is no place for him in that England changing room on Thursday.
Now England have to start thinking about this third test match. It's gonna be even more dramatic than I had hoped for after all this
Adot,
Do you know precisely what was said in these texts?
Gave my opinion, he shouldn't be dropped. Texts, tweets all petty, get over it and get on with the job in hand - saving a home Test series.
Who's to say Swann (after being dropped) or any other player hasn't sent derogatory texts about the captain/coach? These things happen. Yes, he was stupid but I'd feel aggrieved to be out on my ear when others in the past i.e Swann have took a dig and haven't been investigated (makes me cringe, an investigation for this)
Just my two cents.
^^ Your comments are always worth more than 2 cents bud

I agree he should have had more self control or found another outlet, but he's a cricketer, not a professional diplomat. The actions which have been alleged against him, are action of a man who felt he had nowhere else to turn. In this modern england team which prides itself on being a unit etc etc, that is an appalling state of affairs to have gotten into.
Maksi,
Why thanks. Regardless of what we all think, every England fan will have wanted the strongest possible XI to take the field on Thursday fully focussed on the job in hand in a crucial game, sadly for whatever reason we wont get that.
Like I said in my first post, we the fans are the big losers due to the ineptness and for me pettiness of all involved.
Here's hoping...
Really, disgusting behaviour really? Worth sacking? Seriosuly?

I made a comparison with other lines of work.
Do you think that your employer would not have grounds for taking dispclinary action against you if you started a blog taking the pisss out of one of your colleagues, or if you had a book published criticising one of your colleagues ? unless you were very very lucky you'd be straight out the door i'd say.
^^ Believe it or not, I stand regularly in my bosses office because of exactly this
Then again, my fellow norwegian truck drivers really are toss'ers
@Galloping. Agreed we have lost a quality cricketer but I have enjoyed the decisions made by our selectors for many years and they have their reasons.
Who knows, maybe another young player could become a hero and dig us out of this hole we are in and save the series?
I can almost see the headlines already

Well said fella, self control is exactly what is required in fact I may go as far as banning them from bloomin twitter if I had my way.
Your remarks about Unity are correct,in fact I was so proud of the way this team have conducted themselves under the Strauss/Flower managment,we were the envy of the world I believe.Your comments are also true this is embarrassing now and the split between the dressing room seems to widen everyday.
We seem /have allowed this circus to detract from the beautiful game,I am ashamed at the moment to be honest.Flower and Struass were left with no other alternative to change/manage this situation in the only way they could.
Cant spoil a player career only on the basis of couple of text message that he sent to opposing players.
Is nobody gonna support the England selectors/ captain here?
They know far more about what has happened than we do surely?
Getting rid of KP is a huge decision and one they have taken quite easily. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of person that man is.
Fighting will always occur and the solution is not to jeopardize a player's career.ECB has acted like Syrian regime.Warne and Buchanan never got along well and ACB never initiated investigation.
14 men plus support staff, each with different background ,education, ability etc and consequently petty disputes will occur every now and then.
I tell you what, I bet pietersen's autobiography sells more books than swann's !
Though I really want KP in the team, I must say he seems to fall out with every team he plays for.

Dropping Pieterson is the easy option

agree Neon.
Interesting that the new boy taylor was a follower of the tweet account. was this because he wanted to get in with 'the in crowd' in the dressing room, or is that reading too much into it ?
Did anyone actually take the time to read the tweets? I'll tell you why they followed it, because it was funny.
I work in an office where the banter is 'robust', and pretty much nothing is sacred. God help the poor sensitive KP if he worked here, he'd be crying into his latte after about 10 minutes.
If you set yourself up as some sort of demigod, you have to be able to take the mickey taking that will go along with that.
It's clear he has been a divisive influence in the dressing room, it's very clear we know very little of the whole story.
In the last few years, the England selectors have gotten very little wrong, I see no reason to start doubting them now.
