don't get your hopes up about assaidi, sterling has more talent
What can you do? It was a wonder strike, an absolutely brilliant goal. We are not really creating too much, but we look compact and solid.
Shades of last season in our first half of this season. Lot's of the ball but little incisiveness apart from Suarez.
The players need to keep their chins up and try to relax.
Dowd's booking on Suarez was a joke, especially as Olsen cynically took him out moments before, with no card. Booked on reputation by a t**t of a ref.
Yeah, he really should have been on the bench in my opinion. perhaps West Brom were deemed too physical for him....
We really need to win this one, with City, United and Arsenal coming up soon.
McNulty spouting bile as usual:
"Suarez booked for a ridiculus gesture at the referee's assistant following an offside decision. Stupidity. WBA 1-0 at half-time."
Even the commentators at the game said the booking was ridiculously harsh...
The ref is a joke and always has been Paisley.
Knew it would be a tricky game, wonder goal in the first game against us as well, we need to pick it up a touch and calm down.
It will take time but we will get better, hopefully Borinin or someone will stick one in, we have had enough chances already.
Downing is.certainly not setting the world alight. WBA have got him in their pocket. We are enjoying far more possession, control, attempts etc, but the score doesn't lie. Fantastic goal from Gera, Pepe didn't have a chance. Top RH corner, very good goal. jimmyTheRed
bringing carroll on does not smack of panic ffs...
are people aware that a tall player can play in flowing football?
and why get downing off (who can cross-ish) and bring on a target man?
if carroll isnt good at flowing football, why increase the layers that play flowing football with a player "that can only play hoofball"
the comments that one can read on a footie forum is astounding.

Carroll isn't as good as you continually make out mate.
i'd give cole the nod over downing at half time
I haven't made out how good he is. But he certainly is a good player. I'm more interested in how suited he is in that role for this game. With Suarez going left or right, we'd be much more balanced in attack, in my opinion.
Some good news. Arsenal are currently drawing against Sunderland at the Emirates.
Not a bad call at all, Philo. Never thought I'd ever say that. jimmyTheRed
Can't remember many times last season we came from 1-0 down.
Worrying worrying times.
i wouldnt be surprised if this finishes 2-0 to west brom...
Whoever suggested the sopcast link
Borini though the middle is a good shout! Lol @ the "same old story comments"
Its been 45 minutes, its probably a case of flushing out the remainder of the 'bad luck'
Downing has been decent. However if he missed the chances Suarez had, he'd be getting slaughtered all over this thread. unfortunately people like a scapegoat, it was Adam, it's quickly shifted to Downing.

There will be Liverpool players who will think it's a cue to hoof, I hope we don't go down that route.
That first 45 reminded me a bit of last season, many good chances to both score and create but we lack a cutting edge, Cant help feel that a player like Dempsey is what we are missing. Still it is only the first game and if BR can impose hus system effectively hopefully the system will help overcome a lack of collective goalscoring.
Carroll needs to come on... its almost back to the Suarez lone striker nobody in the box days
Difference is suarez may miss but he also carves teams open where as downing doesnt.
maybe suarez's finishing is dodgy but he's the only one who looks a threat
