Bit hard on Byram, i don't think it will be long before he's a constant on the team sheet, after such a baptism i think he will be justifiably proud of himself.
Byram is a great player in the making- however we do need our strongest line up- Peltier Lees Pearce Drury
Did we have 2 Norrises playing then SKH
Do not know what you mean Jonty
"Byram is a great player in the making- however we do need our strongest line up- Peltier Lees Pearce Drury"
SKH........That might be right, but i reckon Byram did nothing but improve his claim for a start in a "strong" line up , and as you seem to be saying he's gonna get so much better and playing against players like Jarvis is only going to help him get there
People are giving Varney a lot of stick today but people soon forget the good performance he put in last Saturday.
Byram did well today imo and he can only get better but I do like Rodolph Austin a good player
Pro, maybe he should stick to Div3 football then, because he wasn't very good at Championship football today.
Agreed Lancs, Rodolph (chews yer legs off) Austin , The guys got the makings of a Leeds Legend
Jonty
You can tell in comparison to how the other players played against Shrews, and he played just as good as anyone again Shrews.
But he couldn't step it up against Wolves and by common consent was our weakest player on the pitch, or did you think he played well today?
I never said he played well today but as usual typical Leeds fans if a player has a bad game then he's instantly not good enough for the club. Can you imagine if we'd got rid of McCormack after his average start to the club, Snodgrass didn't set the team alight either when he first came.
He was our worst player today, but perhaps he just had an off day. EHD was much better than him, and I still think that White would be better suited to the wing. I think NW brought him in for cover initially, but he has now been brought up to the 1st team
Pro, where on this thread have I said he's not good enough for the club?
He had a bad game today, we are allowed to comment on that in this football forum you know.
Really pleased with today.
Watching a side which can finally defend & having confidence in a keeper for once.
Best 2 players for me were Pearce & The Sewer Rat, suberb.
Didn't like the 10 mins of madness when we picked up those yellow cards Becchio & Varney in particular.
I like the look of Green, he has something about him & hope the knock he picked up isn't too serious.
Main concern for me was White.
What's happened to his pace? Got turned over at least three times.
Great performance & to say there were 7 newbies I thought we gelled really well.
Season looks good providing we don't pick up any needless suspensions.
I never said you did I said in general.

Jonty, personally from listening to the game and then reading various reports including on here I wouldn't say he had a 'bad' game today but an average one.
It was just that others played that much better in what appeared to be an all-round impressive performance. I'm sure in midweek someone else will get lower marks than most of the team - anyway just my thoughts.
Sorry for posting that twice.
Whatever the ratings, its three points and a clean sheet at home on the first day of the season. That is deeply satisfying!
Austin, Diouf, Paddy Kenny and Warnock to become legends by the end of the season.
And Norwich got tonked...its time for a beer or five!
Lurker there were 4 incidents for Varney that sprung to mind:
1) First half, we're attacking, he's on right wing, passes infield BEHIND our 2 attackers.
2) On left side he then passes again across midfield this time straight to a Wolves player.
3) Through on goal took a woeful first touch though.
4) Elbows Wolves player in face then laughs in his face and picks up card.
Justa saying in this game he wasn't good at all.
South, re White, it really looked like a player who knew his place was secure....don't get me wrong, I like White, but wasn't great in Left Back position today, one wonders why Drury is not first choice there.
Jonty.
I dont think White is up to full fitness yet.
His cheeks were puffed out trying to get back every time they attacked down the right.
Drury will definitely put pressure on him in that slot.
LB position could be interesting this Season.
Snoddy and McCormack didn't have great starts but you could see they were players with ability.
Varney i don't see a lot really
And I think Peltier looks like he could make a really good centre half
Southk would hope that White gets to play in midfield at some point and leave LB to Drury.
You could be right about fitness (he was on U21 duty), but he just didn't look great at LB today.
However, overall job done, I think there is more to come from Austin, we have a young layer coming through in Byram, and we won our first league game v potentially tough opponents.....happy with that.

Agreed. I was surprised when he was played there against Shrewsbury but after his performances in both games, he looked very comfortable. Dealt with everything, good in the air and got a bit of pace which our CBs usually lack.
