It the moment ive got a 30 kg suitcase, and a 15kg backpack.
If i fly etihad, then i can take 2 23kg bags.
If i fly oman air, i can take 1 30 kg bag, and pay for an extra bag.
Etihad fly to manila and hanoi. Oman air fly only to manila.

My backpack's capacity is about 15kg.
OK, so 15+30 = 45kg which is under the 2x23=46 limit
Ive got another problem.....
VOA in vietnam is 15 days.
There's a dirt cheap fligt to HK on 15/2.
But no fares available to arrive in vietnam after 31/1

Your chicken isnt going to make it across the river without getting eaten by the fox im afraid
It isn't mate... when Miss Robben and I go on holiday her case always weighs more and mine less. You pay for the total. They say 2x23 as an example.
As long as no single bag exceeds 32kg due to H&S

It says,
"2 bags...up to 23kg each"
Googling it seems to suggest that as long as you don't have one single bag exceeding 32kg it is fine to combine the weight allowance.

No it doesnt.
This is the most flagrantly negligent advice ive ever seen.
I've been Googling it for you mate. It seems to me that you can combine. Why not email, call or LiveChat Etihad to ask?
