Excellent read wideboy
Would you take 33 points from the last 3 games now, if they were offered? I know I would.
Anyone see how much Lancs scored agains Worcestershire today in the CB40? They literally battered them.
Luckily for Worcestershire it was a no result, and it got rained off, but 324 in 37 overs.
inshallah we are able to see off essex and manage a couple of draws against kent and hants and go up as champions. it will hurt to be runners up seeing as we have occupied the number 1 spot pretty much all the way through the season.
come on you falcons.
I'd take 37 like a shot.
Despite the maths I reckon that would most likely take the title too. Yorks would have to win 3 out of 3 with an almost full complement of bonus points each time.
Winning three on the bounce is a big task even without the screwed-up weather we've been 'enjoying' in this miserable excuse for a summer.
We need to win 2 I think Derby and home. Well done to them so far.
The second spot is either us, Kent or Hampshire.
I have a feeling Kent may nick it. Adams has got them organised and with in form experienced players like Key and Davies, they look good.
We have been decent but weather has played against us about 6 times - Though also coming to our rescue once.
But, that is cricket and is an equal pkaying field fir everyone.
Almost lunchtime update...
Yorks have Gloucs 64/4 off 26 overs thanks to a great opening spell from Patterson (3/14). Looking good for Yorks so far.
Derbys are not too much worse off: Essex are 73/3 after 26.
Kent are off to a steady start with 37/0, but only 13 overs bowled at Grace Road - which suggests some time has already been lost in this match.
So far, the favourites are all performing to expectation.
I agree Kent may be in with a better chance than the raw stats suggest Yorkie.
The weather conditions mean that a side may have less than 3-days worth of cricket to force a win. TBH that requires the opposition to implode a bit as well as the winning side to play well.
With fixtures against Leicester and Glamorgan, Kent have opponents who are perhaps more likely to implode than the other contenders.
Interesting decision by Derbys to insert Essex. I can't knock it with (now) 4 wickets before lunch, but it did seem slightly negative in a match likely to lose a fair few overs to the weather.

The 7th wicket stand of 74 was a PITA.
Yorkshire rattled out Gloucs for 215 and then lost Lyth without a score on the board. These 2 rebuilding and Yorkshire have a golden opportunity to win this match now.
I don't understand England they pick Woakes then they don't pick him. FFS, if you don't want to play him at least let him play against Notts. And let him score yet another century!

Cheers MILF saved me a job.
Derbys situation not quite as bad as it looks, as one of the 3 wickets down is the nightwatchman.
I think Kent may have the best position currently. They could go on to post a 500+ score then bowl Leics out twice.
Though the Derbys & Yorks matches are well ahead of the clock - as they need to be with the weather forecast over the next 48 hours - it's still not clear which team has the advantage as yet in those matches.
Also I wonder if Derbys now regret inserting Essex - they bowled them out, but only get 3 bonus points for that, where in contrast Kent are handily placed to pick up 5 batting bonus points.
With today having the best forecast of the 4 days of play, shouldn't we really have batted first?
Adot I agree. Why use Bresnan when Woakes is a better batsman and bowler.
He is the only true genuine all rounder England has. Stokes not far behind.
Day 2 Lunchtime Update.
Score correction for close of play Day1
Kent 322/6 of 87.5 overs.
Therefore they need 78 of 133 balls to claim the 5 batting points - a little over 3½ runs per over. Less than managed so far this innings. Much will depend if Nash stays in for most of the rest of the innings.
No play possible before lunch in any of our three featured matches.
I wouldn't think Derbys will be too upset about not batting first, (i.e. potential 5 batting points v's 3 bowling points)!
If you look at our stats, we have scored 34 out of a potential 39 bowling points (87%), whereas we have only scored 26 out of potential 65 batting points (40%), so batting is not Derbyshire's strong point, (in the first innings at least)
Fair point well made ScouseRam
What I failed to say was we have scored an average of 2.6 bowling points per game, but only 2.0 batting points per game.
We have a batting point!
At 120/7 that at least looked unlikely.
Just lost Whiteley for 56 in the penutimate over before tea.
Good 86 run partnership with Poynton though.
Excellent that Tom Poynton is finally showing what he is capable of with the bat.
241/9, can we squeeeeze another batting point, (and a first innings lead)?
