Could test it out I guess
He could play there TBH but he wouldn't work there in Rodgers' system. He's not got the movement and energy to play there in the new system
i dont think that would work - Gerrad's is most effective in CM - as he gets older he should be dropping back threw the midfield not heading further up the pitch.
I'd like to see Gerrard as the number 9 for England just ahead of Rooney.
Gawa
As a striker he wouldn't have to get up and down the pitch though.
but it takes away from his passing range which will end up his best quality as he gets older. It would be like us putting scholes upfront.
I'd prefer him on the right hand side of the front three.

Here's the article from 2008. He's a great finisher and a bit more dynamic than Scholes so would make a great 'furthest forward' striker.
i always thought Rooney preferred Gerrard just behind him as he knew he would get the supply, other way round not sure He would be as effective.
Something Rafa said in 2008 - would he have done it if still in charge? who knows. Always think a player drifts backwards as the get older. Gerrard may have scored goals buts doesn't have a strikers instinct and he will always go back to the midfield to get on the ball as much as he can and influence the play. He wouldn't be as involved when up front which takes away from his game.

I was also reading an article about it last week. Can't find it or else i'd paste that too!
His best strength (imo) is his finishing. Where does he fit in your midfield now?

Gerrads finishing is not his best quality - otherwise he would have been put up front years ago.

Gerrard is unusually quick for a central midfield player, so I can see where that idea comes from. But as players age, short-burst pace goes before stamina does, so that’s why players tend to drift backwards (positionally) rather than forwards.
From what I’ve seen recently, Gerrard doesn’t appear to have lost much pace, nor much stamina, but I can’t see it happening at the age of 32. Much more likely he’ll play deeper as he gets older.
For the moment, he seems to be playing more or less as a secondary striker/playmaker anyway, with Lucas and Allen behind him, and that’s probably his best position. He's still got enough pace to do it.
There a difference saying some one is the best finisher at the club compare to their own best attribute. Scholes started up front and was moved back as it helped the team to use his other attributes. His passing range was much more valuable than his finishing.

To my knowledge Gerrard didnt start up front at Liverpool. Also if the exact applies to gerrard he wont end up in the striker role but moving back just like scholes.
Gerrard will end as a deep playmaker.
I think he still has the legs to be one of the wide players in the front 3 but he shouldn't be a centreforward.
The only reason I can think to do it is because Buck could then play
---------------Lucas
-----Allen------------Sahin
-Gerrard------------------Suarez
-----------Centreforward
It would only be because we have 4 Starting XI quality CMs, not because it's Gerrard's future
