Maybe he has a replacement lined up...
Here's hoping!

He doesn't want Carroll, he's the manager let him get on with it!

It might be the only option we had at the moment, he's not going to be playing week in week out. There is still a day to go, lets see what happens!

the ref, I did think that but his comments in the press today effectively stating we are sell to buy has put pains to that theory .

Its not hard is it, he had interest from teams and wanted to try and force a sale, nobody is going to pay the money we want so we are forced to let him go on loan.

He tried to get big money for him and it hasn't worked, big deal.

If he goes on a scoring run for WH he is going to be worth more than sitting on the bench here.

Is this even confirmed anyway?

I am amazed at some peoples naivety

Question for the admins, has statto had previous accounts?

Unless he has a serious replacement lined up this is a very strange deal.

We can't get a sale and his value will drop if he sits on the bench all season... 10-15 goals at hoof ball west ham an get an easy 20 million for him end of season??? That's my thinking anyways..!!!

in the long term its the best way of securing the best fee for the player. in the short term i can only envisage that he either has a replacement lined up on loan or he thinks dempsey will kill two birds with one stone i.e. someone to play out wide and can also cover suarez

suarez 7 and others, I see your points about going out on loan for games etc and think he will do well at west ham because they will focus there play to get the best out of him by being really direct. However who is going to pay £20 million for a hoofball player? no clubs with those resources have that kind of money. If we can get the 17 million proposed in the original offer (but reports suggest no mandatory sale if they stay up) I would bite there jands off despite it being a 50% ish loss on what we paid. I genuinely believe hes worth 8 million tops.

I have been very pleased / impressed by BR but he did make a clear statement that to let him go out on loan would be ridiculous.....so why change your mind???

Not happy at all

Strange move, I assume there is a player coming in?

posted on 30/8/12

West Ham will pay it, it is to much of a risk for them to pay that fee incase they get relegated.. If they stay up and he has a good season I fully expect them to pay it...
If not someone will probably be interested he is probably going to be scouted from AC know it sounds bizarre but it is possible..
The only way to hold his value anywhere near the 20 million mark is for him to play and score goals he is not going to be playing for us so it makes sense even though at the same time it feels a bit crazy loaning out a player who cost us 35 million!!!

It's a fantastic move, but Brendan shouldn't have contradicted himself. No matter - based on his transfer business, I'll forgive him!

Yea its strange. I dont know if this has ever happened? a 35 million player out on loan the following season. You expect that kind of signing (fee) to be the first name on the team sheet at any club in the world. barmy football these days.

Just anther Aquilani!!

You may just have well burned a big pile of notes in the carpark

He was talking about Newcastle having that deal after we paid them 35m.
If he isn't going to play then a 2m loan fee and 5m wages is 7m we wouldn't have at the end of the season. Chances are he will knock in a few goals and other clubs then become interested. He needs a club to play to his strengths and Rodgers is not about the individual

Didn't Barca send Ibrahimovic on loan the following season after buying him for £60+m?

Are you comparing Ibra with Carroll??

posted on 30/8/12

Guys...i think for once u will have to forget abt Carroll's fee and treat him as a player excess to the requirements.
Sell him for somewhere arnd 15 mil and invest in a good goalscorer.
What use is Gerrard, Suarez creating chance after chance when u have no-one to make sure u get the best value for all ur chances created.

posted on 30/8/12

No obviously not. The poster whose comment I quoted, asked if another player as expensive as Carroll had gone on loan the following season, so I listed Ibrahimovic as an example.

Someone like Jelavic would fit the bill, one touch........BANG!
