The lease at 100K per year annd us picking up rent from the Dons etc plus any other income is ghood business Pegdog. We were paying much mpore in rent and unabale to make anythiong from the Stadium.

As Fuzzy has said on many occasions, we were spending more money every year to stand still. We have lost a lot of money by being relegated and have to readjust to League One. I am sure if you have a few spare millions then JR and Co would be pleased to hear from you.

Right Yankee, just what we said about John Ryan last night, I bet you have spoken to your contact and MR JOHN RYAN has now said it was a joke. BUT does he forget that he milked it and asked Saunders not to let Bennet take penalties. But God has stated that it was a joke. Therefore Bennet need not to be greedy anymore. You know my stance on John Ryan. I do not like to be associated with such people.

I hope the Dons are paying enough rent to cover the cost of staging a game, otherwise it is bad business. With the crowds they draw cant see it. One of the reasons we dont have a reserve side is the cost of the stadium.

PS newyankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ( Sorry fingure slipped) JR has people around him with more millions than I will ever see in my life time. The trick is getting them to part with some of it.

ionly, mate, you need to get to Specsavers.
I cant see any reference by NY to the Bennett/20 goal thing on this article.
As it is, if bennett does get 20 goals he will be able to buy his own Bentley anyway coz he wont be on L1 wages next season if he does.

Hound, just go back a couple of weeks on the the OS what John Ryan said. Both Yankee and me were discussing what he said and both quite clearly remember. just like there is only JR putting money in the club, plus the ground rent was £1m per year ALL NON TRUTHS or is it a Smokescreen or is it Economical with the truth. lets see. Yankee and myself were also discussing little Bennett driving around in a big Bentley, now just look at a certain young player of MCFC who has killed two innocents and ruined a family. Do not give me crap about "What about his own life" He did the driving. Perhaps Yankee has spoken to his contact and perhaps his contact has spoken to John Ryan

When did i give you crap about "what about his own life".
I have no sympathy for the Man City youth.
He was apparently racing with another lad in a VW Golf.
They both desrve all that the law can throw at them.
A similar thing happened to someone very close to me a few years ago but fortunatly didnt get killed, but was very seriously injured and still suffers today from the after effects.
As for anyone telling JR to tell Bennett about not driving a Bentley, well i doubt that.
I think it is just a case of making sure it doesnt go any further in the event of him getting close to 20 goals.
As i said earlier though, if he does then he wont be with the Rovers at the end of the season.
Also as i said earlier, there was no mention of this Bennett thing on this article so it looks like my mind reading skills need freshening up.

No. it was on a previous (within last 10 days) release on OS with JR making all the noise and making out that the keys to his prize Bentley would be given to Bennet if he scored. As for RTA's and death. I have dealt with many fatal RTA's

It is on todays DROS, an explanation about it being an off the cuff remark said in jest.
What is wrong with JR having a bit of banter with the players.

NY,your pre-season typing skills haven't improved yet!Have you got "Specsavers"over there?-

posted on 4/9/12

No Stanton, I need brainsavers, as I think far ahead of how I can type, therefore I tend to hit the wrong keys or two keys at once. I suppose if I slow down it would help.

NY - as far as i know we were not falling out.
I thought it was a discussion, thats all.
The whole thing started because i said that, oh well it doesnt matter does it?

Can anyone explain to me why we would put M Woodsie out on loan? If its true I just can't see the sense!!!!!. He is improving, needs match fitness and we are short of players.
With Hume at least 3 to 4 weeks away from any reasonable level of fitness at least Woodsie is nearer to the finished article than Hume at the moment.

Yankee. Don't worry about me and Hound, we have been mates for too many years infact to Youth Club Days to fall out.

Alex, it has to be for the same reasons as Copps.
Woods is one of the highest earners and was signed by SoD.
Deano has to offload 2 high earners so that he can bring in a few lower earners (who obviously wont be as good).
It also apperars to be the case that Deaono wants rid of any players that SoD had brought in.
It does seem silly to me to farm Woods out just when he is getting back to his best.
As far as i am concerned the club will not be competeing for a top six place with the quality of players we are getting and by releasing our better ones.

posted on 4/9/12

Surely the books are beginning to balance now so I think you are right in that Deano wants all the old boys out. I can understand that when he had several old boys and he never got the respect he thought he deserved. I would have done the same but Woodsie has shown his commitment and is improving. Too good in my opinion to loan out as he is regaining his form faster than any new boy coming in. There is no point in signing more players that are further back in fitness than Woodsie. The team are still not at, what I call, end of pre-season level of fitness and togetherness these two weeks will work in our favour.

Pegdog: I can identify with your sentiments, but I can also understand why the objectives are kept vague. I am sure that JR, like all of us, wants to get back to the Championship, but economic life up there is tough. In some people's opinion his co-owners attitude is that they are doing the club a favour by supporting it and funding the loss, but I doubt whether right now either of them would be prepared to do the same (at greater cost) in the Championship. I do not agree that we should never say anything against them though on the basis that they are in the role of charitable benefactors spending their own money to provide us (the ungrateful supporters) with a football club. Having said that I doubt whether they would want us to see them in that role; they are businessmen and seem to have some pride in their community and they are doing what they are doing because it is for the benefit of their wider business interests - or at least that is what I surmise.

They obviously see a commercial benefit in ensuring the club's continuing successful existence. The Keepmoat Stadium is a massive business asset with considerable potential and it needs a reliable permanent tenant which it has in the shape of DRFC. If we did "happen" to get promoted they might be tempted to provide more investment to see if we could push on to the PL which would signal expansion of the Stadium which they would invest in fairly happily based on the earning potential beyond football which could be further developed with a top club in residence.

This is all speculation of course, but I think that at the moment they will have said to DS that if he can do it on current resources OK, but they are prepared to bide their time and explore the earning potential of the stadium unhurriedly. If you took a figure of say £250k and invested in a football team it would not go very far, but it could be quite significant in a regular business, like an entertainment/sports venue so that is probably where at the moment they are looking to place their money.

So my view is that it does add up to satisfaction in maintaining League 1 status and seeing what develops. In some ways it will be good for DS because he will be forced to spend what budget he has wisely; there won't be money to waste. Like SOD he seems content to work on this basis.

All in all, I suppose we have to settle for this for the time being.

That doesn't mean we should hold back on criticism, but perhaps we should take account of the owners' vision of DRFC and its success in the medium term as part of a wider business strategy. Ideally I am sure they would like a really successful team and a 25,000 stadium at the centre of a really prosperous stadium company, but in the present climate there is a need for caution.

The bottom line is that without DRFC the stadium business would not be viable.

Donaldo- the most sensible and accurate analysis I've read so far. If we made it back to the Championship this season it would be a bonus and being in with a shout at the end of the season would be nice. Though for me a secure mid table position would be acceptable with the team playing attractive football. From a business perspective it's the right approach too. It normally takes three years at least for a business plan to come to fruition in the real world though. Most of us are not that patient, I only hope the directors are!
