"after just over an hour of play, only three of the outfield players who started the match for Spurs were still out there."

Curious to see if we play such a high line with a much more fragile defence for the game on Saturday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt he will change. It will be a case of trying to score more than the oppo.

Well that’s traditionally the Spurs way.

I have to say, having time to calm down, I still don't think that should be a red. Yeah in the rules watching a replay a bunch of times trying to look for a reason to give it, sure. Unpopular or biased, say what you like I don't care. I won't agree that's a foul let alone a red.

But. The players lost their heads. It seemed to snowball quickly from Udogie getting carded for taking the ball cleanly. Again, I can look past that and say the players need to do better in those situations and not go mad. But I'll let them off this one.

All this kneejerking over Romero and Ange can get right in the facking bin though for sure. Sandy, you're filtered. Cheers.

Agree re. the Romero red. However many times I watch it I cannot see it as a sending-off. The only reason he followed through is because he cleared the ball with a lot of force and that carried his weight forwards. I genuinely don't think he was trying to clean out the player - he booted the ball away, hard, and that meant his momentum was moving forwards.

The ones that fack me off are the Udogie two-footer (very uncontrolled and reckless) and the Romero kick-out (clearly a red by the rules) both of which should have been red and set an ugly, overly-worked-up tone for the rest of the half when Spurs were well on top.

Romero's was the worst most dangerous and reckless challenge I remember seeing in the Prem for probably years. Absolutely idiotic and needlessly highly dangerous to himself and to the other player. No exaggeration to say it could have ended 2 careers.
Irrespective of custom, getting the ball first is irrelevant in the laws of the game as far as I'm aware.

Agree with all of this.
But worst of all is VDV's injury.
We'll be faacked for a defence without VDV, Romero and Udogie.

I watched the game and just couldn’t believe two things:

1. How high your back line was all game! At one point they were actually in Chelsea’s half!

2. How Chelsea didn’t have the nouse to stay onside and exploit the madness of having a back line so high up the pitch. They should have murdered you with the pace they have.

Other than that it was a great game to watch. Mad but enjoyable for the neutrals.

Just watched the Bayern highlights. Kane v Sanchez. Sanchez did alright before Kane scored two late on. Totally lost him for Kane's second lol.

Hojbjerg in the Maddison role, Dier and Davies at CB... Ugh, this could be painful. Hopefully Ange has something clever up his sleeve...

I’d say it’s more like Bissouma is pushed further forward

Predictable team really, best possible in the circumstances

I'm guessing Bentancur is fully fit enough to start games yet? Not worth risking him until he's 100% or near enough

posted on 11/11/23

tough one where I think that midfield is gonna struggle to create chances but I guess lo Celso Bryan and Bentancur are all just back from injuries and perhaps not ready for a start

Ange had very little choice, given the players missing. Let's see how it pans out.

High line surely has to be binned for this game though.
