Roll on Utd. I'm not placing too much confidence because that place is a nightmare for us.

Also, Son going off didn't look too good. Not sure if he will play but lets have a go.

Stay humble.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

At least Ange confirmed Brennan is okay, so worst case scenario we have Solanke, BJ, Kulu and Faaaacking Werner

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago

I wouldn't risk Son if he isn't 100%. Maybe minutes off the bench if he is 'feeling tight', which is how Ange described him. Quick turnaround and plenty of games coming up. No need to risk further injury.

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago

Shat or bust will work for a games here and there but teams on par or better than us will take us apart and that’s the conundrum with Anges tactics. We may get lucky in some games yes but will it bring success who the fek knows.

We were so wasteful on the ball at the back too. So many misplaced passes and one thing is for sure Bissouma with his back to goal as a 6 is a complete liability. He got robbed so many times. I’ve never been so annoyed with a 3-0 win. Such a weird game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There were many problems with that first half, very many, lots of horrible individual errors. I was saying at half time we didn’t need to keep playing such a high line.

I thought we improved a lot second half though and the last 20 mins we looked very comfortable letting them have the ball and do faaack all with it.

A tale of 2 halves for me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They missed at least four massive chances for me and then the penalty. Arsenal barely gave City, the best team in world football, a sniff by making tactical alterations. I just think that whilst there was some improvement second half, this performance for me was symbolic of everything that’s wrong with Angeball and why ultimately we’ll always come up short. The best can make adjustments. We can’t, or at least won’t.

The proper test comes at the weekend. We can't be doing any of that stuff in that match.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If there’s one certainty we know now it’s that Ange isn’t for turning, he will have us doing that come he’ll or high water, it’s brave or stupid, or possibly both - it’s def entertaining
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure we will concede. It's just a matter of how many compared to how many we score. If Maddison plays and is on it and with Solanke and BJ in some form, I'd actually say we have a reasonable chance of beating them. It's not the Ferguson era United anymore where they had that aura of invincibility. That said, it's still another big team we're facing and our record against them has been useless lately.

Not an ideal situation to sub him on earlier though. Win the next 2 in this comp and our odds of progressing are like 97% - we can give Lankshear/Bergvall/Moore plenty of mins after that

We took 4 points off them last year.

A point Sunday would be fine by me. I’m not gonna lose my mind if we lose that one, it’s not like we’re going to win the league and these days I couldn’t give a schitt about top 4 anymore.

I want to see us going all out in the cups, so was happy with line up tonight, I thought Ange got the starting 11 right in terms of rotation

Yeah plenty of games in this comp to come. I mean crying shame that he’s one of the players that’s really knocking banging the door gets 5mins. It’s not enough to get into the game in my opinion and does more harm.

I dunno, I felt more comfortable second half.

First half was ridiculous, just wide open.

We will never win a league under Ange or even go close, but what I really liked tonight was our starting 11 - he got that right for me in terms of strength and I think it bodes well that he will take this comp seriously. That’s literally all I wanted this season a proper go at a cup and I feel he is going to do that with the Europa

I’d agree with this. The balance of youth and experience was right and just enough rotation. Just a shame that so many first teamers will have put in a major shift with one less day recovery than United. It’s Old Trafford though. We rarely get anything there. I’d rather see us focus on the cup games too.

Also on Selection tonight, well done Ange for not starting great Birchwood Forster, Vic made some great saves - getting back to his best after a confidence wobble

Yeah faaack United, go all out attack, see if we can pinch something and if not then move on quickly. Same goes for Anfield, Woolwich and the Emptyhad.

Already looking forward to the Hungarian champions Ferencvaros next week

A draw would be ok. A loss is not good after our recent run of wins and having lost a couple of games already. That'd be 3 losses in our last 4 in the league. We need to start showing some resilience now and not get beaten so easily.

This 5 match stretch of Newcastle, Brighton, United - away and Arsenal and Brentford at home is our hardest run of games all season.

I can live with a loss at United, beat Ferencvaros and grind a point at Brighton. Our league campaign will hopefully really start to get going after that. We will be alive in the cups and everything is still to play for

Yeah I’m not saying everything’s rosy Fridge, we both know it isn’t. But there are some real positives that I can hold onto - Spurs are fun again, we’ve got some cracking younger players, Gray being superb tonight, Ange seems to have learned from the Coventry fiasco by starting strong tonight and bringing youngsters on when he could.

I said at the weekend, the big thing I could see in the Brentford game was the players are still 100% with him, the way we responded after going behind 30 seconds in was superb.

Yeah, I just wish we’d occasionally see a little pragmatism, which is mad given how much I loathed Conte, but throughout football history, the one thing all successful teams have is a strong defence. If there’s one thing I’m certain of, it’s that you don’t win anything if you keep giving the opposition chances. Something has to change, for his own good. His job will be under threat if he doesn’t sort that out.

As you say though, a win is a win. Let’s see how open we are at United.

It may be tough but we shouldn't be coming away from it with 3 or 4 losses. Not if we/Ange means business this season. That's the form of the end of last season, we're supposed to be better equipped this time round.

The Newcastle game could/should have been a win, the Arsenal game could/should have been a draw. We need to start becoming a team that's difficult to beat, not one that keeps going on bad runs of form.

Celtic fan here......just catching up with the score now.

Was aware you were 1-0 up but Dragusin (being Dragusin) left you in the Sh11t for most of the game and fully expected Quarabag to at least equalise.

To find out it was 3-0 having played the whole game with 10 men irrespective of the opposition..... outstanding

Not too shabby.

The much villified Brennan Johnson might actually be a player.
