We do not have any world class players, in my opinion.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think a fully fit Toby could be in that category
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arguably is, but he did his job as we kept a clean sheet. I'm talking more about world class game changers at the other end.

It's more frustrating that they should of been down to 10 men
----------------------------------------------------------------------

i just read about that

was it a bad challenge by rodwell?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very bad, high up and completely wiped out Dembele, no where near the ball.

The team we put out on the pitch should have been able to score 2 or 3 against Sunderland.
They don't have anyone who could get into our first team.
But the tactics we employed today were abysmal. Our good players were well below par.
If this game showed anything at all, it showed how much we need Eric Lamela back on the pitch. And losing Rose was another factor.

It was a 1970's Chopper Harris classic. Horrible tackle, no attempt at playing the ball. Palable relief on Rodwells face when the bar steward in black only yellowed him.

According to Poch Dembele is now injured because of it

Let's not forget that we struggled to a 1-0 against Sunderland at WHL. Lawro had us down for a 1-0 defeat so all in all we should be happy with one point. Yes, it's disappointing not to win against the bottom club but we seem to be on a seasonal blip of which I think we'll be out soon.

I'm just disappointed we didn't sign anyone we badly needed it.

We will limp till the end of the season with one forward and then wonder why we end up too short at the end of it. Then say it's alright we have a young squad they will improve. rinse and repeat next season.

games like last night show why we needed someone anyone to freshen us up. We didn't even need to spend big Defoe on loan with Vincent going the other way anything to give us another possible outlet.

We have no other option upfront it's that simple and I have repeated this year after year. The only thing I could think of when Vincent Jansen come on was how overweight he looked. Anyone else see this!? Surely after 6 months at being here under pochettinos methods, he should be in much better shape. Just doesn't have anything about him this Striker. Son as good as he can be at times is not a striker. So once again we have just Harry Kane as our real only striker.

None of us should be happy with a point away to the bottom team considering where we are and what we're going for. It's a hugely damaging result to any title hopes. We'll pretty much need Chelsea to drop points in their next 2 games while we win our next 2 games (inc. against Liverpool) just to get another sniff. Can't see that happening.

A draw away to Sunderland is a absolutely shocking result.

This is why there will always be a question mark over us because we let to many good opportunities to make a mark slip

Spurtle, give up on the title mate. We were never going to win it anyway. It was only posters like chronic etc who actually thought we had a genuine chance of winning the thing and was willing to sacrifice all cup competitions for it. I always said I would rather win a cup this year because I don't think we have a chance of the title. We are not good enough to win the league and don't have good enough back up on the bench either. Top 4 finish and FA cup trophy would represent an excellent season. Let's put this ridiculous talk of winning the league away though because it's not going to happen.

You do talk some nonsense sometimes!

We didn't 'badly' need someone. We have a fantastic team and a good squad.

We could have improved for sure - but realistically who? You say 'anyone', well I'm just glad you aren't in charge of recruitment.

But Defoe? On loan?! Are you actually crazy? Sunderland would loan us their primary hope of survival? So they go down and don't even get any compensation for it? Ok sure

This is one of the most clueless posts I've seen on here in some time.

We had a bad game, that's all. Two weeks ago we were crooning over how good we are. That doesn't change overnight.

I ask the same question again, is it just me or did Janssen look overweight coming off that bench last night? That tight top did him no favours at all and I can't believe after 6 'months he's still not in shape.

Don, I'm starting to. If Arsenal go and beat Chelsea as unlikely as that is, and we beat Middlesbrough, it's going to give us some renewed optimism again for a chance at the title, but you're probably right that we aren't good enough to overturn 9 points on an in form Chelsea. We'd have to go on the sort of winning run they went on.

A top 4 finish and a cup would be a very good season for us, or just winning a cup, which should be possible with this team.

"just winning a cup, which should be possible with this team"

Won't ever happen with poch in charge imo just doesn't take them seriously enough.

posted on 1/2/17

We can get top 4 spurtle no doubt. I think we are better than united and city. We are probably on par with Ars and Liverpool with Chelsea being the clear best team in the division. Top 4 should be as it is with the 2 Manchester clubs missing out.

As for Janssen, when you bring on a late sub they should be seen as a weapon we have up our sleeve. When we bring Janssen on it never feels like that to me, it feels instead like we're hoping for the best.

I'm tempted to say that while our 1st team has improved on last season, our reserve team is weaker.

Because he'll get fired.

It's so easy to lose a cup game even when taking it seriously. Reaching the FA Cup final for example and losing it as well as finishing outside top four for Levy is a failure.

No trophy and no extra revenue or exposure. It's the safe option to go all out in the league and disregard cups. Risky business going for the cups over the league.

Hengy, we always hear this, but he did reach a final in his first season.

We were in a better position to challenge for the title last season when European football kicked in again. This season if we remain as far behind as we are now, he should realise title chances are futile and go for cup success.

I'm fairly confident about top 4, but even if we finished just outside the top 4 and won a cup I'd take that. With 38 away games next season we should aim to have as successful a season as we can this season, before it all goes t!ts up!

True Spurtle he did but go back and look through the actual competition, we played some absolute rubbish and struggled past to final where we lost to Chelsea without a fight.

But but it wasn't his team first season and all that... well since we get knocked out every competition with no fight.

Arsenal reserves & Palace knocked us out last season early on

Dortmund in Europa less said the better.

Okay do better this year don't we?

Nope out CL in group stage and lost a reserve game to Liverpool in LC

Struggled past Villa and Wycombe so far in fa cup

All in all pretty pathetic
