So looks like we might take Europa into our new stadium. We will undoubtedly be mocked for saying it's the only place to watch CL in London, and deservedly so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said precisely that the other week, knew this was coming. Club giving it the biggun with those posters, which in fairness were quite funny, but not following it through by investing in the squad. The only place to watch CL football in London? More like one of several places to watch Europa League football.

The Barca defeat was fair enough, but we threw leads away against Inter & PSV and don’t deserve to get out of the group. Hopefully Poch will fack it off now, rest Kane a bit in the CL as it’s all academic. Then please, go all out to win the League Cup or FA Cup for facks sake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight`s match was absolutely nothing to do with Investment Ace, Spurs absolutely dominated that game, it was the ability to not kill the game off and then make individual mistakes. Spurs should have scored six or seven tonight. Nothing wrong with the performance, other than the horrendous last 10 minutes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course. But you can take any isolated result and say the players on field were good enough to win, therefore the lack of investment isn’t to blame. That’s the small picture. The big picture is the lack of investment is hurting the club. We lack quality in depth to cope with multiple competitions, players whose contracts are running down will view us as a club that has stagnated and think they can’t achieve their career ambitions with us because our heirarchy aren’t prepared to take us to the next level on the pitch.

There’s may be good reason for that; the stadium. But that’s not the players problem. They may love Spurs, Poch etc but the fact they’ve arrived at the club at a point in time when we’re unable/unwilling to push ourselves on squad wise isn’t their fault, their career time is limited. I know he’s been off it this season are there are rumours of a chronic stomach complaint, but I don’t see Eriksen being here next season for a start. Or Toby. If Real Madrid and/or Utd are on the hunt for a new manager at the end of the season then we’ve got even bigger problems. That’s where the failure to invest hurts us - theres only so much Poch can do on a net transfers budget of £10m a year, which is what he’s had to work with in his four years to date.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This.

Let’s not pretend every player on our books has some everlasting bond with the club like Le Tissier had with Southampton or Totti had with Roma. For every one of those, there’s many more with the mindset that trophies and honours are what they want to look back on once their career is over.

We fans aren’t going to jump ship because its not in our makeup to do so, completely different story to think that all our players think like we do.

Clearly we're not investing enough to try and improve the squad because the same errors that cost us staying in the CL against Juventus last season, have come back this time around as well, only this time we've gone out earlier and to teams a lot worse than Juve.

Seems to be backing up the idea that we are going backwards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you’re standing still then you are going backwards. This idea/delusion that maturity = growth and improvement isn’t exclusive to us - if we benefit then everyone does. It’s not like a boost to an individual exchange rate ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Top 4 looking more tricky this season as well. Could be back to the old Europa Spurs that we used to know before Poch came to the club. Going to backfire big time if that's what we end up with at our new stadium.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

CL or nothing for me. I do not want any part of the Europa league. Would take the league cup or FA cup ahead of it everyday of the week
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know what to think anymore. I used to want to write off Europa at the first instant, but if we drop into it at the KO stages then I guess we're not too far from winning a trophy, and it would be the best trophy we could win. Actually would be enjoyable to win it if we ended up beating Arsenal or Chelsea or both along the way.

At the same time if we didn't have any Europe it could boost chances in the league. Or are City that good that it wouldn't actually matter for us even if we had one less competition to worry about?

32 teams left from when the CL dropouts land. So 9 games, 6 or 7 of which would be after the league cup final.

In a season in which I feel we need to win something, we may as well give it our best, IMO.

Yes, City are too far ahead for us to have a chance of winning the league, surely anyone can see that (apart from sandy who I’m pretty sure is just on the wum anyway)?

Would rather we won the Europa than the FA or CC, a European trophy would be amazing. But that’s not happening, we’ve played in it for yonks and our record is terrible. There will be some good teams in the KO stage, we won’t get a sniff. A domestic cup and top 4 should be our priority, but when you see us blow every chance we have - chances to win something like against Utd in the semi last year, chances to go top of the league which we’ve repeatedly bottled, you just resign yourself to the fact it’s probably not gonna happen.

I’ll be honest I am fearing the worst. I’ve said several times that summer will come back and haunt us and I firmly believe it. I’m starting to feel that this next year, there will be no Poch, Eriksen or Toby at Spurs, just an average Europa League team in a swanky stadium, and too much debt to challenge for major honours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're probably right about City. There's still that unknown factor with them as to how well they'll actually do given the other competitions. If they fare better in other competitions than they did last season then they probably won't do as well in the league points wise.

Anyway, like I say above, I'd rather us give it our best in all the competitions and see where we are at the end. Winning something and maintaining a top 4 position would be a good season.

Er Spurs could be above City after they meet next Monday. Nothing like waving the white flag. I thought you were better than that Ace.
