Where's the craft and invention? Same old shiiiiit.
Ref is having an absolute nightmare!
Richarlison is a lot better when he's got space in behind like that. He had a lot of that at Everton but he'll have to adapt his game if he wants it to work against teams that dig in.

Should score there Kane

Absolute sitter for someone like Kane.
I guess we all want to win this game, right? But the fact is that this is so typical of Jose. No attention to improving players with patterns of play, just a desire to sit back grab a goal and then shut up shop. Even in pre-season. Even though we've lost this one I'm so glad he's no longer our manager. It's everything I loathe about football. It's not just about winning. It's more than that.
Feck mw that was as boring fk
Pretty poor 2nd half, dominated possession but little penetration. It's the hardest part of the game breaking down a packed defence but we have to find a way. Very very predictable. It's amazing we haven't managed to procure a decent dead ball specialist. I wonder why we aren't linked with ward-prowse, he ticks a lot of boxes.

Sort of get what you mean. It is a friendly so we can't look at results. But Jose is a proven manager who wins matches. It's his style, why would he change his style. If anything, he's proven what he does works tonight because he won today. We are still a mile away from winning anything IMO. Don't quite have the quality when things really matter.
Its the hope that kills you.
3 points next weekend matters, tonight doesn't though.
Three things that never change with Spurs.
1. A corner is as good as a goal for the opposition
2. Spurs still cannot break down a packed defence
3. Kane is the worse freekick taker in world football
Other than that a decent workout in testing conditions. Perisic did more than enough to start next Saturday. But I think there are some other places up for grabs. No Spurs player exactly cemented themselves a starting berth, other than the set in stone starters.
Don't mind the result. At least expections are not high for next weekend. Hot conditions. Good work out. Nice for Bissouma and Perisic to get more minutes.
We are in a good place for the first game.
Lenglet and Perisic were positives for me. As part of a three man defence, Lenglet could really shine as his taste for mistakes might be covered well by the other two players. He looks composed on the ball with a real ability to drive out, a bit like Vertonghen. Put it this way, both Sanchez and Lenglet have a mistake in them but at least Lenglet can actually play.
Still staggered we've not signed a playmaker. We actually don't have one in the entire squad and it's blindingly obvious we need one.
I think luckily for us not many teams in the prem pack their defence these days.. so many front footed pressing teams - it used to be a rarity but is now the norm. Still would be nice to be able to do it when needed though. Still not sure how royal gets ahead of Spence. If also be quite happy to let Moura go and get a technically gifted AMC in the side.
I don't think we are done in the market yet, just hope we make the right moves. Zaniolo didn't look that great tonight although most attacking players tend to suffer under Jose!

You say that but the teams he was most successful at controlled the ball a lot more than his teams do now. At Chelsea and R Madrid, they'd often dominate to the point of scoring 2-3 and then close up shop. Now his teams start off passively. His coaching is all about what you do out of possession. What this means is that when you do get the ball, you're a bit clueless about patterns of play with the ball and your ability to actually play regresses. It happened with us. Under him the players became so much more content without the ball than with it. That's not football in my eyes. I think it was when we were outplayed at home to Norwich in the cup that I really felt crestfallen. They battered us and controlled the entire game. Norwich.
We still suffer from that hangover now. The Wolves game at home, Southampton at home. We're changing but the scars from Jose's era are still visible. Conte isn't exactly Klopp or Pep when it comes to pure football but he's a damn set better than Jose. Hated him before he joined us, absolutely loathe him now.

Spence will be another Rodon I suspect. A Championship player coming to Spurs, and getting next to no game time. Personally I thought it was a strange signing.
Lloris
Romero Dier Davies
Emerson Højbjerg Bentancur Sessegnon
Kulusevski Kane Son
No new guys starting 😕
Royal at rwb
That is our weakness
Think we'll struggle 1st half
Cant blame conte for not starting newbies. We have 5 subs and most of the signings didn't get much fitness in pre season.
