Dern, rest assured you wont be missed. Toodles pip.
Don't rise to it Dern. Those who wum bite the most. Leave them be, whichever country they are from and then follow.
Best memory was a personal obe actually. I was about 9 years old and Yorkshire were playing Warwickshire in the Sunday League at Scarborough.
Warwickshire were bowling and Roger Twose was shattered. Randomly, he left the boundary edge and sat down on the bench next to us and started chatting to the Yorkshire supporters next to him.
Random, I know. But, my other love is football. That was the day I realised how great cricket can be for reasons beyond the game itself.
I have always admired cricketers from our shores and embraced the personalities of those from abroad.
Regarding a match - Petsonally to me, when Goughy took on Australia, Devon Malcolms 9 wickets againzt South Africa or more recently, beating the Aussies on theur land.
Another intelligent & thought provoking contribution from Pinefresh
"how old are u pinefresh?"
"a child obviously."
Because these comments are so intelligent aren't they Dern(!)
It's always the holier than thou approach with you isn't it? Silly moron, why don't you crawl back under your rock where you've been all this time England were getting trounced by SA?
That's hilarious Yorkie! I didnt get the chance to watch the matches you mentioned live but i've seen footage & they're awesome!
Beating Aus in Aus was fantastic!
He is at Uni mate, still a kid. He will rralise in ten years he is a xenophobic bell.
Didn't watch them live either bar the Yorkshire ones mate.
Thank you for attempting to ruin another article Pine
Do you go to county games often Yorkie?
Good thread Dern and I would have to say the Ashes series of 81. Were you around then to enjoy some of those matches.
If not mate then get on you tube and watch Ian Botham and Bob Willis.
Those cricketing memories will come to the grave with me
I am not xenophobic at all, stop assuming. I have absolutely nothing against the English, only against a couple of English fans, namely Maksi and Dern, on this board.
"discuss cricket on this forum without nasty racism/country bashing/childish behaviour?
If not then i really cant see myself posting on this site any more. I want to debate/discuss cricketing related topics, not read countless comments on how pathetic teams are etc, it's quite frankly a joke."
You ASKED for the thread to go this way or are you so stupid you cannot remember the OP? Wow, you're stupider than you make yourself out to be.
Have to say that some people on site seem to value abuse and wumming more than actual cricket debate. I get the feeling there is a lot long term resentment between people and that spills over in to some pretty meaningless discussions, just take a look at yesterdays match thread.
Not my favourite memory but my earliest, back in 1984 the West Indies were giving England a right shoeing, no surprise they were for me the best side ever. Me and my dad were watching when Malcolm Marshall came out to bat with a broken thumb and then preceded to bat one handed and managed to get himself a boundary and hang around long enough for Larry Gnomes to get his 100. Why is this my favorite memory because I just remember my dad pointing at the screen and shouting they can't even get a bloke whose batting one handed out, just makes me smile.

When you can watch and enjoy your team struggling to beat a one handed man you can enjoy anything.
Wanderer, I'm sure you can see that yesterday's match thread was going exactly as it should have until a certain Mr Maksi decided to rear his ugly self.

Agreed Wanderer and prior to commenting about the Ashes in the early 80s I was thinking of about a dozen great memories produced by the West Indians of that era.
What an amazing time for cricket that was. Malcolm Marshall = Frightening? He scared me to death just watching him on the TV
Haha ive never seen that before Wanderer! Quality.
Dont worry about posters like Pine mate, i dont even remember the guy. He's obviously got issues but i'm sure he will soon realise that he needs to do some growing up.

Anil Kumble's test century vs England.
The Warne to Gatting one is quality, I remember actually believing we had a chance in that ashes series right up until that ball and then I realized we were in a lot of trouble.
Jimmy and Monty holding the Aussies off at Cardiff when I thought we were doomed.
Good call on Devon Malcolm trouncing the saffers, my mate taped the highlights and we were still watching them 5-6 years later.
I remember watching the one day highlights from a Lancashire and surrey one day semifinal back in about 93, I had stopped watching the live coverage when I was pretty sure Lancs were going to loose. The highlights proved other wise from no where Wasim Akram absolutely tore them apart and we took something like 7 wickets for 20 runs, I was bouncing off the walls.
This got me into cricket

More recently, Swann Broad and Bresnan hitting over 200 runs after tea, in a test match against the Indians.
A series we later went on to win.
Tremendous batting by non recognised batsmen.
