Liverpool have known for 23yrs......now the rest of the world has realised, the lies and deceit that was was heaped on a city not full of thugs and crminals but of heroes and compassion.

Liverpool were telling the whole world for 23yrs...its only now anyone is listening.

Fair enough but people like Sean Mercer don't do much to improve Liverpool's reputation as a city.

What about those fans who didnt attend with tickets?

Wasn't there an extra 5,000 liverpool fans without tickets? Or was that just lies?

lol I heard a Man Utd fan from Bolton phone in on Talksport and said it was ok to sing chants about tragedies

He said the atmosphere in games would be sterile if you take the inflammatory chants out

Man Utd fans sing nasty songs about RVP and Wenger

Love the rivalry
Love the banter
Sick to the back teeth of the hatred

Liverpool got some critisism last season from many quarters, including mine, so those people, including me ,need to accept they have won a battle for the common man against the establishment who thought they were untouchable.

It really should never ever be understated despite the one or two attempt today to do exactly that.

yer still getting stuffed next week though dippers

Considering the stand was around the capacity of tickets sold, then no there wasn't extra fans(no more than normal). Either the one's with tickets sold their tickets to one's without(very unlikely) or the one's with tickets entered and were all directed into the central pens which became overcrowded whilst the side pens remained half empty(likely as evidenced by both reports).

It would really take a very foolish person to go with the first sequence of events. It doesn't amaze me that some do though, afterall it's a 23 year lie and even if the truth hit some in the face who have been peddling the lie, they'd refuse to accept it, due to the length of time they've been peddling it, whether it's because they look stupid, are on the wind up or have got to a point where they in actual fact believe their own lies having spouted the nonsense for so long.

Cheers RVP,i think thats 7 games we have either beat the mancs or drew inc cup games; i guess it will continue next week...

posted on 14/9/12

Also I have to say i haven't saw one United fan attributing blame to Liverpool fans after the truth came out as fact. They should be proud of themselves. Of course that all goes out the window next week when we're gonna beat you bad.

There is a marketing saying i was told once, "If you tell a lie often enough then people believe its the truth"....

posted on 14/9/12

A lie gets around the world before the truth has got its trousers on.

You haven't picked up any points in nearly 4 years at OT now G_B, at least we picked one up last year in ages at Anfield.

posted on 14/9/12

I was taught in marketing that you have to make yourself believe first as the buying won't believe it unless you do. That's how this lie has went the rounds for so long, so much so that Liverpool fans were labelled as having a victim mentality when for 23 years we tried to explain the truth.

I'm still living off the 4-1 at Old Trafford, that sort of keeps me company when we haven't won there for four years.

posted on 14/9/12

Horrible day, but few months later we lifted the title so it sort of eased my mind off it a bit.

Ha,ha...true RVP....but in that time we had 4 managers 2 cowboys and players like konchesky and poulson on the books....

Let's knock this ridiculous nonsense about 'extra fans without tickets' being in any way the cause of the tragedy on the head once and for all.

I'm an old bloke who has been going to football matches home and away for 45 years following my team (Derby County). Remember the Baseball Ground? Imagine standing on the Popside with 41,000 in the ground - crammed in like sardines. Often we would get to the ground only 15 minutes or so before kickoff, sometimes we would miss the start.

The one thing that never happened though in all my life was going to a game where they opened the gates beforehand. Think about it - a couple of thousand people who would normally be entering the ground only as fast as the turnstiles would admit them, suddenly allowed to flood in through a gate behind the stand - a flood at one point instead of a trickle all the way along the stand.

Put yourself in the position of a fan turning up in the hope of buying a ticket from a tout. The gate's been opened, hundreds are pouring through unchecked - hell, you'd have to be mad not to take advantage of that. Also, you hear the whistle, the game has kicked off - everyone surges forward. You want to see - anyone would. Only...

Those in front aren't moving. You don't really push, but the pressure from those behind you is increasing. Something has to give. Ribcages and airways are what gives.

The person responsible for the tragedy is the person who ordered the gaqte to be opened, the person who caused the stewards to be withdrawn so no-one could be directed to the side pens, the person who said the game should kick off with so many outside.

The fans were never to blame. It saddens me to think that some people still wish to perpetuate that myth.

you must admit Toor though that as john said, 96 football fans being crushed to death is acually a bit of a knock but Heysel is really where it's at

That 10 year old boy who was tested for Alcohol after dying in the most horrific set of circumstances now needs to be held to account for Heysel

John has a point right?
