But if starts scoring more consistently, and I think he will eventually, he'll certainly be up there. Because he has pretty much everything else you would want from a striker.

I really hope he does, it'll be fantastic to see a player brought through the ranks, rise to be one of best
His hold up and link up play are already very good, just needs to be calmer in front of goal.
daveunited, VCD
no I'm not serial in disguise if that's what ur implying??? I really think welbeck will not be a prolific scorer as Hernandez, van persie and rooney, though I hope he proves me wrong and score loads
no I meant Serial would come on here, but guess not

you got it wrong, didn't mean that at all.
He will be here soon to give his views.
Him, Dubbed, Pete, Kamran, Batmanu...The whole gang will here soon.
He'll be brilliant in a couple of years providing he gets plenty of games. Trouble is atm he is third choice number 10 at best and third choice number 9 when last season he was pretty much first choice with Rooney all season.
He just isn't going to get the same pitch time this season unless of injuries of course
With the right attitude though, the competition could well propell him up to the next level. Let's hope so
Do i hope Welbeck will be world class? Yes
Do i expect Welbeck will be world class? No
He has never really blown me away but he is a fan favourite and i hope he fulfils his potential.
What TRC said.
I dont think Welbeck will be world class but if he adds finishing to his game he will be a top notch player.
You just know when someone is going to be world class, but Welbeck is not in that category.
A good 3rd choice striker
I don't know about 'world class', which is a bit of a vague term from my point of view. My hope is that he can be a player who can do for us something like what Saha did (only as a more durable player over a longer period).
Saha wasn't a world class player. But he was an important component in a world class attack. I think Welbeck, with his athleticism and footballing brain, has the potential to be the spearhead of our attack: scoring goals of course, but also providing the clever movement that creates holes for other players to exploit.
The problem with welbeck is, as good as he is, his style doesnt scream world class if that makes sense.
his hold up play, touch etc is all very good, its just his decision making and goalscoring that lets him down at times.
however he runs awkwardly, at times he doesnt look in control of the ball even though he is, which why i dont think people will ever see him as world class ( hope that makes sense)
On your last point, I see what you mean Dunc. He looks like he has jelly legs when he runs.
Cheers RVP, at least someone understood
That reminds me of Rivaldo. He moved around as though one of his legs was 10cm shorter than the other.
...no one questioned whether he was world class though, as I recall.

And his face ran the whole length of his body too.
Looks like hes gonna fall over but doesnt and feels like hes gliding when he has the ball.
can welbeck become a world class player?
No. I will not allow it.
No. He will become a decent player but he is not a natural finisher like Owen, Villa or Hernandez. His all round game is good but he will not become world class striker because he is not a natural goal scorer.
Short and to the point, no.
if Rooney is 'world class' then yes he can.
Don't be facetious RBW.
I am a fellow gainsayer of Rooney's 'influence' in our team but Welbeck has in no way, shape or form showed the exceptional promise that Rooney USED to show.
