Bye bye Holtby, Holtby goodbye

I was wondering who would get the first comment. Been a while guys.

Andrei, He's leaving?

A good player he was, nice tricky little footballer. Where is he going? Wouldn't surprise me if it was someone like Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham etc.

He will do well wherever he goes. He will score and create a lot.

Would like him at Arsenal. Would be surprised if it happened though. Doesn't he say he likes Everton? That could be a good move for everyone.

Everton!

Surely that would be a step down? Would Everton be able to afford his wages and his price tag for a start? Heard they have been strapped for cash over the last couple of seasons. They'd do very well to sign him. However, Schalke's form has been poor recently and they haven't been very good this season so it might be possible. Everton might be on the up anyway with a big shout of European football come the start of next season. But we will have to see.

Would have expected him to think about Everton at all. But chance of Europe I suppose.

I'm surprised Huub got sacked and now Holtby wants to leave. Yes they're not doing too well at the moment but after one poor run of form it's GET OUT time? That was quick.

Maybe he'd accept a drop in wages to go to a club he likes in a league he likes (e.g. Arteta when he signed for us).

posted on 28/12/12

Huub probably deserved it. Didn't get the bst from his players and they were never pickjing up points against teams that they should be collecting maximum points from really.

Maybe he would. All the best players are in the Premier League and that is where players should want to be really. But it would only have to be a small drop in wages, I wouldn't settle for any drop in wages if I was a player going to a better league but that is just my greedy self.

I would. I don't think I'd mind if I was earning over £10k a week. It's all the same. Nobody needs 50k a week.

posted on 28/12/12

Suppose. And in a sense he may be possible of more than £10k a week as I can see Baines leaving and I could bet he is on at least £15k a week if not more maybe £20k a week and they've got Bryan Oviedo who is a LB/LW so he would be a good replacement with Holtby in AM.

They could then afford Holtby for about £10M from the Baines tramsfer and he could then earn a good £35k - £40k which would be muh more his level rather than £10k.

But it's still a lot of money £10k...

What are Everton's wages? I'd imagine Baines to be on more than that.

Winter break at the moment?

I don't know for certain but you probably won't be seeing the better part of £30k on any player really. Baines is a top player at a good club with pretty poor finances for it's Premier League stature. But should Holtby decide to leave at the end of the season, should Everton get Europe, he might be seeing £40k - £45k coming through his mailbox every week.

RKW, Yes. We are discussing the possibility of Holtby moving to Everton. Which you probably wouldn't like to see considering you are a Liverpool fan. But he has been strongly linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool as well as he is refusing to sign a contract with them. Just depends on how you rate the Daily Mail.

I can see this turning out like the Huntelaar issue really.

We won't sign whoever he is. I know we've been linked before but we'll only get Sturridge in I reckon. Won't even re-sign Ince, which I think is pointless anyway.

Holtby is a top player and I'd recommend signing him obviously if I was a Scout at Liverpool. He would fit in well with your system leaving Gerrard to drop deeper in CM, pin-point the passes out to the wingers and act as a Deep-Lying Playmaker. Your strongest team should then be this:

-----------------------------Reina-------------------------
-----Johnson------Skrtel------Agger-------Enrique--
---------------------Gerrard----Sahin-------------------
-----------------------------Holtby-------------------------
----Sterling------------------------------------Sturridge--
-----------------------------Suarez------------------------

Which to me looks like a team worthy of at least Europa League, whether you will get it, different question.

But something that bugs me about Rodgers is, he loaned Sahn from Real Madrid with plenty of experience in the Champions League, La Liga etc, why doesn't he play him? Bar Gerrard he is your best midfielder.

posted on 28/12/12

I'd play Sturridge on the right. Or would I? Greedy . If he's going to be greedy I'd play him on the right as at least then he can cut in on his favoured left foot. Also Sterling is a bit more of a typical winger.

to be honest we haven't been treating him the best,

first season hardly played, 2nd season farmed out to mainz, 3rd season out of position, only this season we really played him where he wanted to.

TBK, We've all been on about how Everton are involved? Whether it's triue over the last few day's, we don't know for sure. But I don't believe The Times anymore. They come out with some rubbish.
