Are they doing it like the BBC did in 1983 (spliced the films to be chronologically correct) ??
RDBD, I don't think so mate but to be honest. I love watching the films how they are made, i just feel that is a bit forced and although it makes sense, i would rather watch them how they are
massively overrated in my opinion. There are loads of better gangster films - Goodfellas, Untouchables, The Departed, Casino and many more. The Godfather is a bit like Star Wars in that if enough people hype it up, the sheep will follow and if they don't like the film they'll keep it to themselves for fear of being different... Yes, for the record, i can't stand Star Wars either.
The BBC edit was so much better.
You get much better feeling for why Vito acted as he did in later life.
A lot of people say 2 is better than 1. But for me no one beats Brando.
I thought all 3 were excellent, a true tale of generations, and chock full of classic lines.
Michael: You know, my father helped Johnny in his career.
Kay: Really? How?
Michael: … Let's listen to this song.
Kay: [after listening to Johnny for a while] Please, Michael. Tell me.
Michael: Well, when Johnny was first starting out, he was signed to this contract with a big-band leader. And as his career got better and better he wanted to get out of it. Now, Johnny is my father's godson. My father went to see the bandleader, and offered him $10,000 to let Johnny go, but the bandleader said no. So the next day, my father went to see the bandleader again, only this time with Luca Brasi. Within an hour, the bandleader signed the release, with a certified check of $1,000.
Kay: How did he do that?
Michael: My father made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
Kay: What was that?
Michael: Luca Brasi held a gun to his head, and my father assured him that either his brains or his signature would be on the contract.
[Sonny opens a package to find two fish wrapped in Luca's bulletproof vest]
Sonny: What the hell is this?
Pete Clemenza: It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes.

"i can't stand Star Wars either."
Star Wars is classic saturday morning cinema (for those old enough ) .
The Empire Strikes Back is a very good film and has stood the test of time.
Fridgeboy "overrated" ...Yeh right. Don't get me wrong, i love all the films you mention and 'Goodfellas' is easily up there among my favourites aswell but you clearly have a lack of knowledge of movies if you feel people only love the godfather to follow the sheep. I love the Godfather because it is a masterpiece in film making. No film has stood up in time as the Godfather has and no film has looked as beautiful as The godfathers do considering they are well over 30 years old. They have magnificent score, brilliant acting with actors that were born to play the part and easilt the most realistic potrayal of a mafioso family in any movie.
nwo, love all the scenes at the Godfathers daughters wedding Luca Brasi " and may the first child.....be a masculine child"
Best scenes IMHO :
Michael in the restaurant.
Vito when he is told Michael is the restaurant killer.
Was Don Tottenham one of the Mafia bosses???

That's a pretty cynical outlook. You don't have to call people sheep cos you see things differently. I hate Star Wars myself but appreciate it must be popular for a reason. Just like I hate the soppy lovestory in Titanic and can't understand the Harry Potter hype but it doesn't mean I consider those who love it as sheep.
Yeh Vito died inside when he finds that out, he realises his only innocent son has now turned and will be part of the family buisseness.
Was Don Tottenham one of the Mafia bosses???"
And Godfather 2 >> Godfather 1.
The Departed > Goodfellas > Godfather.
BTW I was told that the Godfather was loosely based on the Borgia family , yes nowhere near the age of American mobsters but if anybody has been watching the Sky Atlantic series then it makes sense to me
what sky atlantic series squid, you didn't mention the name you mean Boardwalk?
I watched a great war film last night, Paths of Glory starring Kirk Douglas and directed by Stanely Kubrick.
Check dat out, one time

I never went much on The Departed, but then I'm not a fan of remakes. I own the original trilogy on which it is based though.

There were 3 Infernal Affairs films, first two are good, third was ok.
Didn't like the third instalment, Paxton.
Very much a "Godfather part 3" IMHO.
