I love it when foreigners call scots english. Worked with loads of scots overseas and it used to happen all the time. They love it
I've had personal experience of golf club members who looked down their nose at me and had me thrown off a course for not having the right shoes.

I used to coach under 11s at football. I had to send half of then home before we started because they wore inappropriate footwear.
If you want to play Golf on a golf course, wear golf shoes. What is pompus about that?
Gawwwdddd
Go away for half an hour and ANOCARCY
The club originally let us play in inappropriate footwear because it was just a works night out and none of us were serious golfers. But they changed their mind and threw us off when a member complained. He then had the cheek to suggest that we probably hadn't even paid. I thought that was a bit pompous

That is your own fault.
You are obviously unaware of the damage the incorrect shoes can do to the greens.
VC, if the club hadn't agreed that we could play with incorrect shoes, I'd agree with you.

lots of people jump on golf courses with out paying. That why some insist that you display your green fee badge at all times so the marshall can see you have paid.
If it was a proper private members club you would have had to be playing with a member to get a game with a green fee... and he would be responsible for your dress and behaviour and members would complain about you thro him.
Sounds like you just came across a jobsworth.
Rave TBH Golf is supposed to be very good in 3D but I agree it's not that good / great on other sports

Fair enough bud. I get your drift anyway. There is a lot of snobery at certain UK golf courses.
Luckilly where I live I have a massive choice of public courses to play on, that are in tip top condition, so I don't have any dealings with upper class twits.
