PES all day for me, only really played the FIFA demo so can't say 100% but PES is back to it's best
Albert you were disappointed with PES last week
Konami need to up their game to be honest. However I think ive decided to not play FIFA anymore. I just cant stand the way every game is a constant midfield battle. Bores the feck out of me
I miss Sensible Soccer
Ryan Goggs, Runaldo
It's still a bit like that with PES as West Midlands Villains vs Merseyside Blue
pro evo used to be class but it all went down hill when the new generation of consoles came out, konami went more with an arcade direction whilst ea went for a realistic football sim. fifa is undoubtedly better than pro evo now but it will still always have a place in my heart.
Mr C, I'm disappointed that the normal league mode has been removed however I'm enjoying the actual game more than ever... only been at work 2 days this week so I've had a bit of practice!
Why doesn't EA Sports just buy the PES series from Konami?
But still keep the two games: similar to Adidas owning Reebok and maintaining it as a different brand.
Just a thought.
When you drill down to the actual game-play PES has always edged it in my opinion, but the fact that FIFA just does the little things really well makes it just seem more like a football game you'd watch on the TV.
FIFA hasn't really improved as much I would of liked but it's still the better of the two.
Pes really went downhill for a long time. But it's got back to being good again.
FIFA has done enough this year to
Be considered better but will have to start improving a lot more next year of they want to keep that status in check.
Im just sick of not being able to dribble past more than 1 player.

How do you know if you haven't played Pro Evo since 2006???
Wow thats when Pro Evo was in its peak! 04,05,06,07,08,09 All classic games!
Thats the problem with FIFA. They've made it so "real" that its not fun anymore. Cant play for long. Used to play Pro for hours on end.
You only need the X button for Fifa.
Pro Evo is a great game, many people would happily play it. It's only flaw is it cannot compete with FIFA.
In order to compensate for its poor lack of licensing it needs to give the potential customer something different: they've tried a UEFA licence added to the Master League or Football Life Mode. They've also tried some good subtitled cut-away scenes as you progress in your career. And I think they tried a game mode where you can become a chairman?
These ideas are fine, but is it anything massive to draw enough customers to compensate for its poor lack of licensing?
It needs something different, something that separates the game a lot from the FIFA series. It also needs to improve on the things it can control. They have to accept they don't get as many licenses as FIFA, so why not work on the things you can control. For example, the terrible commentary and the ability to change clubs in Master League.
FIFA does the little things really well, there's not one big difference it has with Pro Evo. It's just thousands of little differences which add up, to be honest.
Licenses.... PES has every license you want, just need to download them, its not hard.

I'm not too clued up on that myself, mate.
But even so, a lot of people will be annoyed that they have to spend time editing/downloading when they've already paid good money for the game.
I just think people are lazy... how are Konami suppose to out bid FIFA for all the licenses, its like if Utd tried to buy a player and Bolton tried to buy the same player, Utd would offer more money and would get said player.

Good post, if you had never played a footie game before and you tried FIFA and then PES you would choose FIFA all day, I think that FIFA has become a bit tiresome in it's game play, too many predicatble ways to score/ defend etc, but the overall asthetics, Commentary (Peter Drury and Jim Beglin explains my point) and overall packaging are much better,
PES is the better game for longevity though and I think this years offering will prove this
Albert.
I don't blame the customer, if they can do something that means they have to do less work themselves then the chances are they'll do it.
Konami should focus on other aspects of the game to set it apart from FIFA though, so there's an obvious distinction. So people say "guess what you can do in this year's Pro Evo?".
If games such as the Saints Row Series can give the character the user creates a choice of voices, then why can't Konami do this for the manager you are creating? Then they could add in the option for things like a half-time team-talk or a Press Conference? They could have the Press have actual voices too, but not the players because they are specific individuals and not generic like the Press or a created manager. That's just an idea off the top of my head, I'm sure if you sat four or five football fans in a room with some games designers then they could find something great to add to the game in the time they have to operate in.
Pro Evo needs revolution not evolution, because so many people are just complacent with FIFA that they will never try Pro Evo again and criticise it for the same aspects they do every year.
Unfortunately a lot of people are taken in by FIFA's marketing. Doesnt necessarily make it a better game than Pro Evo, even though that has been the case for the last few years, Pro Evo was the number 1 for games for a good 6-7 years.
