Benchmark for a world class CB:

To be of equal, or greater quality that Per Mertesacker

This may sound a bit controversial but IMO somebody who is world class IS world class.

Kamran, in your honest opinion, is Mertesacker world class?

No, he's a top quality defender though.

I just thought they had to play in a winning Arsenal team to qualify....followed by immediate demotion to the s hitheap when they next lost

I think you need to be in the top 3-5 players in that particular position to be world class.

The term world class is branded around too much. IMO only a few players are really world class.

Ronaldo, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta are world class and the tier below them are players like Carzola, Fabregas, Neymar, Mata ect.

It isn't defined. It's subjective.

For example, some people say Silva is world class, some people say he isn't. So you can't define it. It's all about opinions.

I have a much more simple method, if they are within 10% of the ability of Robbie Savage then they are world class!

I'd say Silva is world class, along with Kompany, Aguero, Touré
