Interestingly, Kean is 25-1 to be your next manager according to oddschecker...

Hierro in.

It'll have to be a freebie. Don't see us paying anyone off.

That means its either Arry - which is unlikely - Curbs, McCarthy or Davies.

Would love it if we went after Heirro, but doubt we will.
So gut feeling is Little Sammy till the end of the season, and we have seen this film before!.

I think the timing suggests that we already have an appointment in mind.

Otherwise wouldn't he have been sacked yesterday?

Think TRR is right. Unless we take a punt on an ex-player with no experience, I can't see beyond Davies, McCarthy, and Curbs.

Curbs is always linked with jobs, though, and I'm not sure this is the one that will excite him into a return to management, after so long out. So, Davies or McCarthy, it is. What people think of them is a different matter.

I don't think people will pretty much universally support either appointment, so I just hope they're given time to prove themselves.

I wonder if the list of 'top names’ that apparently declared an interest in the Rovers job will now see the Bolton job as a better option?

We can safely discount megson and lean!

I wouldn't put it past them to poach someone from a lower league
For me its curbs but it won't happen.

I don't want one of these established names that have already had chances elsewhere and never really achieved.

The problem I have with Curbs or McCarthy us that they think sun shines outta KD's backside, so won't leave him out.

That's why I'd have Ole. Knows the modern game much better.

I think it's going to be McCarthy. I hope it's Solskjaer, not sure everybody could see past the United connection though.

As long as it's not a K i.e. Kean, Keane or Keegan.

It's a sorry state of affairs when fans don't take to the best manager available because he played for someone that they don't like.

posted on 9/10/12

I really don't think that will be a problem, TRR.

Maybe with Keane, but I don't think many of us want him due to his managerial record as well as not liking him much.

Solskjaer is a likeable guy, though - I don't think many, knowing his record with United reserves and Molde, will have any problem with his United connections.

Rowbot. I agree. Unless we get Roy Keane. I couldn't disagree more then.

Fickle? Me!? Never!

I'd really like Solskjaer. He'd certainly be my number one choice, but I don't think we'll pay compo for anyone.

So, realistically (I believe), it's between Davies and McCarthy. I have a slight preference for McCarthy, solely due to this:

My money on Billy Davies, nice name...Eddie Davies, Kevin Davies, Mark Davies, there was Shaun Davies, thought they might have kept Steve Davies, one of them used to have a gun shop at the bottom of deane road.

I wouldn't have too much of a problem with McCarthy. People will say he doesn't have a great record but neither did Pardew when Newcastle appointed him and I don't think they're complaining...

Most managers peak at some clubs & dip at others, unfortunatley since BSA we have had a lot of dippers....

I said playing SKD and hoofball will cost OC his job. So he brought it upon himself. As "Robot" says above .....McCarthy will love an SKD type and we will not be any better off.
I'll support the new man of course if changes begin to appear. I think this season is shot though.
I prefer a foreign manager myself ....I don't know who though.

That same hoofball that got us into Europe!

Absolutely deluded if you think this is the reason we/coyle havent been recently succesful

Id have Mcarthy in a heartbeat, did really well with Wolves, and shouldnt have been sacked.

Next up - id take a Phil Brown, but that would be a risk.

Other than that, perhaps mcleish - think he would suit us.

NO ROY KEANE, UNPROVEN AND MUFC, NO SOLSKJAER, UNPROVEN AND MUFC!

Rowbot - what is that based on at all, what evidence do you have at all! Give us some hope here!

batista vs lucero back up new link

He's younger. Only fairly recently finished playing (compared to the rest of them).

The only older manager I'd have is Harry, his teams usually play decent, winning football.

Also Clegg, give over with the United issue. So what?

'McCleish would suit us.'
WTF?

posted on 9/10/12

McCleish, McClaren, McCarthy, Kean, Brown, Reid, who else could I add, well a raft of other poor choices.

None of them for me thank you very much.

McLeish?

Lets not forget last season we won more games than his team did. No way!

We also will not accept anyone who isn't going to make use of our youth set up. Especailly after spending a ton of cash on it.
